It's time to take down those holiday lights! If you have some that didn't survive the season, we can help, with 12 convenient locations to drop off unwanted or broken holiday lights to be recycled, through January 15. 🚧 Inbound Rose Street between Vine Street and High Street will be closed Monday, January 9, starting at 3 a.m. Traffic will be directed onto High St. toward Limestone.
Motorists on Vine will be able to continue through the intersection, turn right onto Rose (toward UK) or turn left toward Main Street. Traffic will be slower moving through this intersection, however. The right two lanes of Vine at Rose will also be closed.
Work is expected to be completed by 3 p.m. The closure is necessary to repair a recent storm sewer collapse resulting from a water line break.
Here's another environmentally-friendly way to dispose of your natural Christmas tree! From now until Sunday, Jan. 15, you can drop off your natural Christmas tree at Jacobson Park’s paddleboat dock parking lot between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily. Be sure to remove all decorations. The trees will be submerged in public waters, making great refuge and feeding habitats for game fishes.

🚧 Clays Mill Road is now fully open to traffic. Southbend Drive will now be permanently one-way from Lone Oak Drive to Clays Mill. Additionally, there is now a left-turn-only lane onto Reed Lane for motorists traveling on Clays Mill Road from downtown to help with traffic flow.
The Clays Mill Road Project, a 3.7-mile-long road and sidewalk improvement project, is complete with the exception of the final cleanup and to-do list items that will be finished in the Spring of 2023.

🦃 Don't just plan your Thanksgiving menu - plan what you will do with food scraps, and fats, oils and grease! Don’t rely on your garbage disposal. Ground-up food can stick to your sewer pipes. Pour used cooking oil and grease into a container, allow it to cool, and throw it in the trash, or bring it to the Gobble Grease Toss on Friday!

🦃 No waste service will occur Thursday, Nov. 24, or Friday, Nov. 25. Those who normally receive pickup on Thursdays or Fridays will be serviced on Wednesday, Nov. 23.
🦃 For all who receive city service, yard waste carts will not be collected Thanksgiving week. Recycle and trash carts, along with yard waste bags and bundles, will be picked up.
🦃 Crews collecting yard waste bags and bundles may not be able to complete service for both the Thursday & Friday routes on Wednesday. If they do not collect your bags & bundles on Wednesday, please leave them out. The remaining yard waste bags will be picked up on Monday, Nov. 28.
