It was an honor to spend time yesterday afternoon with the young men attending Tennessee American Legion Boys State. I had the opportunity to talk about county government, public service, and leadership with students from across our great state.
The students were engaged, thoughtful, and asked some outstanding questions about county government, military service, term limits, and what it means to be a servant leader. Seeing so many young people take an active interest in civics and public service gives me confidence in the future of Tennessee.
I want to thank Chairman COL (R) Jim Reed for the invitation and Randy Porter, Mayor - Putnam County, Tennessee for joining me in leading the county government breakout session. I was honored to return for a second year and look forward to participating again in the future.
I would also like to offer my congratulations to our Henderson County attendees, Jeb Parker, Austin Evans, Landon Parks, and Kaden Volner, who will be graduating from Boys State today. You represented Henderson County well, and I am proud of each of you for investing your time in learning about leadership, government, and citizenship. Best wishes as you continue pursuing your goals and serving your communities.
Promises made. Promises kept.
