We get a lot of questions about how to protect farmland from various land use changes. On September 22nd, the Woodford County Conservation District is gathering all the experts in one place to discuss your options and answer all of your questions.

Another wonderful trip to the Kentucky Association of Conservation Districts - KACD Annual Meeting! This year marked the 82nd year of Kentucky Conservation Districts gathering to celebrate soil and water conservation, share stewardship practices, and create sustainable solutions throughout the Commonwealth. Thank you to Crystal Renfro, Kayleigh Evans, and the KACD Board for hosting the event and ensuring we had a good time.

It is always a privilege to gather with our colleagues from across the state to grow our services throughout Fayette County and share about our work. This year, we are especially honored to have received the award for Outstanding Environmental Education Conservation District. Our friends from Warren County won the pollinator plant giveaway from our table, a conservation gift that benefits the whole office.

Join us to learn about the health of your local stream! We’ll take a look at West Hickman Creek in Veterans Park at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2026.

You’ll learn how to use qualitative methods to monitor changes to the stream over time. Find out how every day behaviors can help keep the stream healthy. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes suitable for walking through grass and dirt. Consider wearing insect repellant and bug spray and bringing a water bottle.
