This week we will be showcasing members of the VMI team competing in Sandhurst 2025!

This morning we are featuring Cadet Kevin Garroway, a senior at VMI. During training Cadet Garroway states, "We’ve been training hard for Sandhurst. We’ve been getting a lot of miles in before the sun comes up and spending a lot of time working after the sun goes down. We have a good team this year that is a lot tighter than any team I’ve been on before. "

Sculptor Moses Ezekiel created Virginia Mourning Her Dead to pay tribute to the VMI cadets who fought in the Battle of New Market. Ezekiel was part of the Class of 1866 and had served alongside those cadets in the New Market Corps—many of whom were his close friends. The statue was unveiled in 1903 during a reunion of the New Market veterans.
