Dr. Price’s Reading Challenge came to a close, with more than 2.4 million minutes read across our district. Congratulations to all of our readers who helped our district run well beyond our reading marathon goal.

The following schools "ran up" the most reading minutes for their school level. Dr. Price presented the awards to the school librarians this week. 📚

On Wednesday, the PHMS Symphonic Band made history! They attended the South Carolina Band Directors Association's Concert Performance Assessment festival at Batesburg-Leesville High School, where they performed prepared music for judges and sight read brand new music that they've never seen before to receive a score. The Symphonic Band received a perfect score from every judge, resulting in an overall rating of superior with distinction–the highest rating a band can earn. This marks the first time in history that the band program at PHMS has earned a perfect score, and they did it while performing difficult class II music. PHMS is the only middle school in Lexington 1 to earn this high honor this year!

As an incentive for students to practice and prepare, Mr. Moffett made a deal with the students: if they got a perfect score, they could shave his head during lunch. Being a man of his word, Mr. Moffett got a new haircut in celebration from Mrs. Painter and the Cougar Band musicians.

We are SO proud of these talented young people and they deserve all of the congratulations in the world!
