Heads up if you haven't checked the boot regs lately: the height standard changed.

It used to be 6 to 8 inches. Under the current DAFI 36-2903, Air Force boots can now measure anywhere from 6 to 12 inches, heel tread to the top of the back of the boot. Sole and midsole combined still can't exceed 2 inches.

If you bought boots under the old rule, you can wear them through the transition period. But if you're shopping now, it's worth knowing the range you're actually working with. More on that, plus toe style, lacing, and zipper rules, on the blog: https://www.uspatriottactical.com/blog/military-boots/best-air-force-boots-for-every-mission-and-career-field

There's a moment before every ceremony, every promotion, every change of command where the only thing on your mind should be the moment itself. Not a loose hem. Not a stripe sewn on crooked. Not a uniform that doesn't sit right.

That's what STRIPES is for.

Through our sewing and alterations partnership with AAFES, our in-store tailors handle dress uniform hemming, tailoring, and alterations to standard—so when it's time to walk across that stage or stand in formation, your uniform is the last thing you have to think about.

Available now at Fort Bliss, Moody AFB, Offutt AFB, and JB McGuire — with more locations coming soon.

"What boot should I get?" is one of the most common questions we hear from Airmen. And the answer is, it depends on your job.

A flightline maintainer, a Security Forces Airman, and a pilot are all wearing the same OCP uniform, but their boots need to do completely different things. Maintainers need impact protection. Security Forces needs all-shift comfort. Aircrew needs fire-resistant materials and flight certification.

We broke it all down by AFSC—safety-toe, duty/tactical, assault, flight-approved, and standard comfort boots—along with the current DAFI 36-2903 requirements so you know what's actually compliant before you buy. Read it here: https://bit.ly/4y1EPB5

How many stops did it take you to get your last uniform mission-ready?

The Uniform Builder puts the whole process into one order: select a product marked "Customizable," choose your sizing, click "Customize." Name tapes, branch tapes, rank, and badges—sewn or velcro—arrive already in place.

If this would've saved you a trip or two, share it with someone still making the rounds.

The military community knows how to adapt better than anyone.

New base.
New job.
Start over and keep moving.

The 4+1 Commitment is a way for employers to voluntarily commit to improving military spouse employment outcomes. It's our way of investing in the people who live that reality every day—veterans, military spouses, transitioning service members, dependents, and military-connected families.

New Soldiers tend to overcomplicate their first kit. The advice in our newest guide is the opposite of what most gear lists suggest: start with a triple stacker mag pouch, a well-marked IFAK, and a one-quart water source. That's it. That covers the fundamentals.

Everything else—radio pouches, utility pouches, dangler pouches—waits until your specific role actually calls for it. Adding gear before you need it just means more weight and more clutter to manage.
