This week's peak performance comes from Officer Gary Gruman, assigned to Frederick Douglass High School. Officer Gruman served as the acting sergeant last week of Area 6, which includes Mary Britton and Crawford Middle Schools. The transition to 3 Officers assigned to FDHS continues to stretch the high school Officers; however, Officer Grumann has made necessary adjustments while taking on the additional responsibility of leading Area 6. Officer Gruman has become a trusted part of the school culture and is relied upon by staff and students to provide safety and security on the FDHS campus.

This week's peak performance goes to Officer Stephen Milligan, assigned to Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. Officer Milligan was the acting Sergeant in Area 5 last week. He was also responsible for FTO duties for Officer Wilson, who is joining us from KSP. As one of three officers at PLD, Officer Milligan's duties have expanded, and he has handled this change with skill, consistently demonstrating a servant-leader attitude.

This week's peak performance comes from retired police officer and now part-time dispatcher Allen Wilford. Dispatcher Wilford adjusted his schedule this week to accommodate extra shifts during the busy first three days of school and helped successfully field numerous calls for service. In addition, while working his normal weekend shift, he was very proactive in assisting the Lexington Police Department and in informing our team about community events that could directly impact students, staff, and families. Dispatcher Wilford demonstrated great skill in his ability to communicate accurate and timely updates on specific neighborhood concerns.

This week's peak performance (now released on Mondays) comes from Officer Jeremy Day, assigned to Garden Springs Elementary. Officer Day created a unique and extremely challenging way to raise money to support back-to-school shopping for students who may not have this opportunity. He decided to walk over 50 miles to 29 different elementary schools as part of the inaugural Fayette 50: Miles for Smiles fundraiser. In return, donations were accepted through the Fayette Education Foundation to sponsor back-to-school shopping at Academy Sports here in Lexington. Starting at 0400 hours in the morning on July 23rd and not stopping until just after 2300 hours, Officer Day successfully carried out this large task. Officer Day set an aggressive goal of raising $10,000 for his efforts and ended up raising well over $12,000. This will allow over 60 FCPS students to shop this Saturday, August 15th, alongside FCPS Police officers for needed items. From inception to completion, Officer Day led the charge, and from his hard work, over 60 students will have a better start to the school year.

This week's peak performance comes from Officer Serena Sandusky, assigned to Bryan Station High School. Officer Sandusky maintains positive relationships as an officer and as the BSHS girls' varsity head basketball coach. When asked to lead the department's awards committee, Officer Sandusky performed exceptionally. Leadership is in her nature, and her heart is with students, staff, and families. This shows every time she sets foot in the school or on the basketball court.

This week's peak performance comes from Sergeant John Stanko, who supervises Area 5 and is based at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. Sgt Stanko leads his team by example, emphasizing consistent professionalism and dedication to safety for students and staff. Recently, Sgt. Stanko has helped develop ALERRT training platforms for the department in ways we have not previously implemented. The culmination of his efforts will take place this summer, followed by an ALERRT training session at the district's mandatory professional development day in August. Maximizing efficiency and using resources to the fullest are hallmarks of his leadership and his commitment to serving others.

This week's peak performance comes from Sgt Brandon Blair, who supervises Area 9. Sgt Blair works a shift from 1200-2000 hours, well after everyone else has ended their shift. He receives multiple complicated calls for service, often involving students and families in crisis. He always provides comfort and care to students and families, and investigates the case to determine whether further police action is warranted. In addition, Sgt Blair leads his team of officers at FCPS program schools while balancing after-hours calls for service that often run well past his scheduled shift end.

This week's peak performance comes from Officer Sirrethia Fox, assigned to the Learning Center. Officer Fox has embraced her role as a mentor and trusted adult in the building. She serves with a students-first mentality that frames her work ethic, which extends well beyond the school day. When Officer Fox arrives on campus, students, staff, and families look to her for a smile and trusted guidance on whatever situation they are facing. Her consistent acts of service are valuable, align with the school's culture, and reflect a deep-rooted commitment to student achievement.

She is often the first trusted adult whom students in crisis encounter. Her ability to swiftly assess a student's safety and connect them to needed supports is one of many tasks she performs daily. The trusted relationships Officer Jelinek has established with staff, students, and families are built on confidence, reliability, and her commitment to serving the best interests of the students.
