The Metropolitan Transportation Plan looks 25 years into the future. Traffic and safety data, employment and population rates, and on-the-ground research are all tools we use to create it. But public input – your input – is especially important for deciding what the priorities are for improving transportation in our area. Take the survey: bit.ly/3Kx0X02.

Hitting the road this week? These are good tips for navigating work zones.

Construction season is in full swing, which means you may encounter orange barrels on Kentucky roadways. Here are some tips to help navigate work zones safely:

- Plan your route before you go. Check goky.ky.gov or the app for up-to-date traffic and construction information.
- Slow down when in a work zone. Look for reduced speed limit signs.
- Avoid distractions. Focus on the zone, not your phone.
- Always buckle up.

Safe driving means that everyone on the road, behind the wheel or a barrel, gets home safely.

Any update on the Limestone Cycle Track of the BPMP Master Plan? Priority score of 100! Let's make it happen.
Dude’s not an urban planner, so you might ask, why does he run a YouTube channel about urban planning and walkable cities? It all comes down to a life of travel, and a terrible walk in the suburbs of Houston.
In light of COVID, the Lexington Area MPO is looking for input/ ideas around additional community outreach strategies for their Participation Plan. They would like the Participation Plan, a framework that outlines how the MPO engages the community in the development of transportation goals, alternatives, and plans, to also reflect the need for virtual meetings.

The MPO is responsible for the Lexington Area's transportation plan as well as the Nicholasville Road Corridor Study, to name a few notable projects. Submit questions or ideas about how to improve the MPO Participation Plan by emailing [email protected] by October 30, 2020.

Can you give me an approximate date when the road work on Bryan Avenue will be complete?
I would line to see more crosswalks on Harrodsburg road especially near St Joseph's. I'm a nurse and live a 20 min walk away and I prefer to walk to work however crossing Harrodsburg is a nightmare. I can only imagine how hard it is for our patients who need to get to the hospital or clinics and rely on public transportation. If this city wants to improve the health of its residents we need to improve access to safe public sidewalks and crosswalks. With the high rates of obesity, diabetes and hypertension in Kentucky, this is actually a matter of p***c health.
