IMPORTANT NOTICE:

Temporary Suspension of CSBG-Funded Activities
Posted October 27, 2025

Davidson County Community Action, Inc. (DCCA) has received official notification from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO) directing all Community Services Block Grant (CSBG)-funded activities under Contract #48794 to temporarily stop, effective immediately.

This action is due to a lapse in federal funding following Congress’s failure to pass a federal Appropriations Act or a continuing resolution for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2025. As a result, federal funds that support CSBG programs nationwide are currently unavailable.

What This Means:
- All CSBG-funded services and activities will be paused until funding is restored.

- DCCA is prohibited from spending, purchasing, or committing any additional CSBG funds during this period.

- This order is in effect until further notice from the NC Department of Health and Human Services.

Our Commitment:
This temporary suspension is not related to DCCA’s performance or compliance. We remain steadfast in our mission to support and empower low-income individuals and families in Davidson County.

Our team will continue to communicate with program participants, partners, and the community as new information becomes available.

Stay Informed:
We will post updates here on our website as soon as we receive additional guidance.

What is Piedmont Triad Regional Council (PTRC)’s Weatherization Assistance Program?
We are a government funded program that provides help to elderly, disabled, and families with children. The Weatherization Assistance Program assists income-eligible families as well as individuals by reducing their heating and cooling costs. We work to address health and safety issues in their homes through energy-efficiency measures. Weatherization service reduces the amount of energy required to heat and cool homes. A potential client may also qualify for HARRP which is the heating and air repair or replacement program.
Weatherization services homeowners, and renters depending on location, available funding, and landlord approval, by weatherizing eligible occupied housing. The Program is funded by federal grants each year. Potential clients can apply at any time, there is no cutoff date. The number of units serviced per county are assigned by state form the census report. For weatherization assistance through PTRC residents must live in Alamance, Caswell, Davidson, Forsyth, Guilford, Person, Randolph, or Rockingham County. This program is FREE but the potential client must meet certain income requirements.

Am I eligible for Weatherization?
As many as 150,000 households in the previously mentioned counties are eligible for weatherization services. You must reside in the home in order to receive services. If you receive Supplemental Security Income or Aid to Families with Dependent Children, you are automatically eligible to receive weatherization services. In other cases, preference is given to: People over 60 years of age, Families with one or more members with a disability, Families with children. One of the primary factors affecting eligibility is income.

2025 Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP)/Heating Air Repair and Replacement Program (HARRP) Income Guidelines:
Family Size (1) Maximum Annual Income $31,300
Family Size (2) Maximum Annual Income $42,300
Family Size (3) Maximum Annual Income $53,300
Family Size (4) Maximum Annual Income $64,300

Family Size (6) Maximum Annual Income $86,300
Family Size (7) Maximum Annual Income $97,300

⭐️GROUNDED IN COMMUNITY: Darrick Horton ⭐️

Meet Darrick Horton, Executive Director of Davidson County Community Action, Inc. (DCCA) in Lexington, NC, who serves on the NCCAA Board of Directors as a voice for families across North Carolina.

“I choose to serve on the NCCAA Board because I care about families who are struggling and want to be part of the important initiatives happening across the state,” he shares.
