Two fall sessions of the Beef Cattle Artificial Insemination and Pregnancy Determination School are now open.

Hands-on training with Dr. Les Anderson at the C. Oran Little Research Farm in Versailles.

October 6–7 or October 20–21
10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. both days, lunch provided

University of Kentucky Wildcats explore Australia’s equine industry during summer education abroad program

• Thirteen students traveled nearly 1,500 miles through Australia in May to learn about various aspects of the country’s equine industry.

The program was jointly constructed and led by Fernanda Camargo, a faculty member in the Department of Animal and Food Sciences and instructor in the equine undergraduate degree program, and Holly Wiemers, communications director for UK Ag Equine Programs and part-time marketing communications instructor within the Department of Agricultural Economics.

Oliver Wendell Holmes said, "A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions.” A group of University of Kentucky students set out to prove that quote true as they began their summer break with an Education Abroad program to Australia.

Join fellow Animal and Food Sciences alumni for a special evening of reconnecting, reminiscing and celebrating the legacy of the W. P. Garrigus Building.

For generations of faculty, staff and students, Garrigus has been much more than a building. It has been a place where discoveries were made, careers were launched, lifelong friendships were formed and countless memories were created. Dedicated in 1973 as Agricultural Science South and renamed the W. P. Garrigus Building in 1990, it will be removed in 2027 as Animal and Food Sciences begins a new chapter in the Agricultural Research Building.

During this year’s reunion, we will honor the people, experiences and traditions that made the old “bunker” feel like home. Come prepared to reconnect with former classmates and colleagues — and perhaps share a favorite story from your time in Garrigus.
