Living Stones Creative Arts

Living Stones Creative Arts New vision and opportunities coming in 2016!

Living Stones is a fine arts ministry devoted to providing a refuge for Christians in the arts, and a resource for those artists to utilize their spiritual giftings for the glory of God. Our intent is to empower Christian artists to see themselves as having an important role to play in building God’s kingdom, edifying the church, and ministering beyond the studio to reach our communities through a common language in the arts.

"Fall in Chicago is an event. It's like theater: active, kinetic, rich. Fall is harvest, when we're getting all the good stuff that someone took the time to plant months ago. Someone planted it, and now we benefit from it. And that's how it is when we make art. We struggle and push and plant seeds deep underground, and it doesn't look like much for a while. But then someone comes along and listens to your song or sees your painting or reads your poem, and they feel alive again, like the world is fresh and bursting, just like harvest. Plant something today that will feed someone many months or many years from now. Plant something today, because you feasted on someone else's carefully planted seeds, seeds that bloomed into nourishment and kept you alive and wide-eyed." in "bittersweet"

visited an art show today centered around the body, and therefore mainly around nudity. it brought up a great deal of discussion afterwards and we are interested in creating an open dialogue about the idea of nakedness in the arts sometime soon...would there be any interest in that type of conversation?

we just discovered a wonderful four part series of blog posts about creativity on ' website written by . Here's a snippet I think all creatives can relate to at some point

"It's amazing how as soon as someone gives you an opportunity to do something, or lead something, or voice something, all of the gun barrels filled with reasons why you shouldn't - all of the inadequacies and the inconsistencies and the failures and the yeah-I-really-don't-know-what-I'm-talking-abouts - empty their bullets into your brain."

Today is a perfect day to try something creative! "On the spectrum of creative work, the difference between the mediocre and the good is vast. Mediocrity is however still on the spectrum; you can move from mediocre to good in increments. The real gap is between doing nothing and doing something. Amateurs know that contributing something is better than contributing nothing." -Austin Kleon
