By taking the initiative, APPA has grown to become the voice for thousands of pretrial, probation and parole pract

itioners and providers of services including line staff, supervisors and administrators from both the public and private sectors. Educators, volunteers, victim service providers, concerned citizens and others with an interest in criminal and juvenile justice are also among APPA members. APPA provides training and technical assistance including a journal, monographs and guidebooks, research, information clearinghouse services and advocacy for its constituents and constituent partners.

This week, we’re highlighting the Kansas Association of Court Services Officers (KACSO), an Affiliate Member of the American Probation and Parole Association.

KACSO represents more than 400 Court Services Officers across Kansas and is dedicated to educating, supporting, and advocating for its members through training, professional development, communication, and collaboration. The association works to promote professionalism and strengthen court services throughout the state.

We’re proud to recognize KACSO and its commitment to supporting court services professionals and advancing community corrections across Kansas.

🎉 That's a wrap on APPA's 51st Annual Training Institute in Chicago!

What an incredible week of learning, leadership, connection, recognition, and a little friendly competition along the way.

We kicked things off with our Executive Leadership Summit before welcoming attendees to four days of Training Institute programming packed with intensive sessions, workshops, networking opportunities, inspiring plenaries, and a vibrant exhibit hall!

🤝 Connecting with new colleagues in the field at our First-Time Attendees Networking Event
🏆 Celebrating excellence through our Carmen Rodriguez Member of the Year, Scotia Knouff Line Officer of the Year, and Walter Dunbar Memorial Award presentations
📚 Participating in engaging workshops and educational sessions led by experts from across the field
🔗 Networking with exhibitors, partners, and community supervision professionals from around the world
💼 Hosting a Career Fair aimed at creating pathways to employment and opportunity
🎲 Wrapping up the week with APPA Games, where attendees showcased their knowledge and skills through trivia and casino-style games

For six days, community supervision professionals came together to share ideas, build relationships, recognize achievements, and strengthen the future of our profession.

🎉 That's a wrap on PPPS Week 2026!

Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating the dedicated professionals who serve in pretrial, probation, and parole agencies across the country! Your work changes lives, strengthens communities, and creates opportunities for lasting success every day.

📍Throughout the week, APPA President Veronica Cunningham had the opportunity to meet with community supervision professionals nationwide, concluding her PPPS Week travels with visits to Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Cleveland, Ohio. These visits highlighted the passion, innovation, and commitment that define our profession.

🏆 We're also excited to congratulate Giselle Montiel-Lacona, the winner of our PPPS Week Challenge! Thank you to everyone who participated, shared their creativity, and cast their votes. The PATHfinder Club

This PPPS Week, APPA is honored to partner with The PATHfinder Club, a group that creates supportive pathways for youth whose lives have been impacted by incarceration, detention, and deportation.

Through creativity and self-expression, these young artists share their stories, perspectives, and strength. As part of our Connected for Change challenge, we invite you to explore six remarkable pieces of artwork and vote for your favorite.
