Today is Peace Officers Memorial Day — a time to honor and remember the law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities.

We especially remember Patrolman James J. Hodgdon III, who gave his life while serving the Lexington community on November 4, 1967. His sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Members of the Honor Guard participated in the Unity Tour with Team riding 300 miles by bicycle from New Jersey to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C., in honor of Patrolman Hodgdon III.

Team Burlington is comprised of riders from Burlington, Lexington, Nantucket, Wi******er, Hampton, NH, and this year New South Wales Australia. Money raised helps maintain the Memorial and its programs. Feel free to lean more at: https://nleomf.org/memorial/programs/national-police-week-2026/

This week is National Police Week — a time dedicated to remembering the law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

Their commitment and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

This year hits especially hard as we mourn the recent loss of Trooper Kevin Trainor, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

We will also take a moment to remember those police officers who made the ultimate sacrifice, including Patrolman James J. Hodgdon III #66 who made the ultimate sacrifice on November 4, 1967 while serving the Lexington community.
You will never be forgotten.

Their legacy inspires us each day.

This is a heartbreaking tragedy.

Our thoughts are with the Massachusetts State Police and the family, friends, and colleagues of Trooper Kevin Trainor who lost his life in the line of duty when his cruiser was struck just by a wrong-way driver.

His sacrifice will not be forgotten. 💙
