We stood in solidarity with Gathering For Democracy,Bluegrass DSA,BGAA and others we gathered out on man-o war and Nicholasville to show our opposition to the distribution of yet another weapon to be used against Americans in this attack on freedom.
We can’t afford healthcare and to feed our families but somehow we can find money for cruelty. Ice has proven time and time again that restraint is something they have been unable to use in the past from the preacher shot in the head with pepper balls for praying, to the young man who lost an eye, to the deaths of Alex Pretti and Rene Goode. These overfunded under trained, jackbooted thugs have shown not only lack of control but a predilection towards violence.
These gloves put out 3 times the voltage of a wall outlet. They are not to be used on pregnant women, children, elderly, or people with health conditions to name a few. They are not supposed to be used for more than 15 seconds or they may cause death (by the manufacturer’s own admission.) Only one set of gloves per victim and only on arms and legs. These torture devices leave no lasting marks which leaves me to believe that means no accountability to the perpetrators of these potential abuses. No accountability means more brazen opportunities for the bad apples. History tells us that ICE doesn’t have that level of control and personally in many cases I don’t think they care to.
There are already lawsuits due to deaths. Right here in ky. Madison co detention center has a lawsuit pending due to multiple shocks some as long as 55 and 90 seconds. Which caused the death of an inmate. This is a warning that more people will die, it’s not a speculation it’s a forgone conclusion and we have an opportunity to save someone’s life by making a better choice.
And what of the allegations of sexual assault happening in these detention centers. Do we really want to give them another tool to control people for their exploitation? This is just another example of the Trump administration using terror and violence to force Americans to comply with their illegal use of force, their utter disregard for constitutional liberties, combined with hate to justify an overfunded, armed military to occupy our streets.
