Ashland is celebrated as the home of Statesman Henry Clay and his descendants. But the luxury they enjoyed came at a significant cost—built on the labor of Black men, women, and children, first as enslaved individuals, later as laborers.

This February, join us for "When Reason Sleeps, Brutality Walks Free", exploring their stories through powerful art by Yinka Shonibare CBE and local artists, archival fragments, and the voices of those who labored here.

Don't miss this chance to discover these powerful stories and honor their legacy. More information can be found at https://bit.ly/ash225

This week, as we reflect on President Jimmy Carter’s incredible legacy while he lies in state, we’re reminded of another statesman who left an indelible mark on our nation—Henry Clay.

Did you know? Henry Clay was the first American to lie in state in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda in 1852, a tradition reserved for the most influential leaders in our history.

From Clay’s vision for unity and compromise to Carter’s dedication to peace and service, we honor these men who shaped our nation’s story. ✨
