Not your typical collegiate EMS call...

INCIDENT TYPE: Residential Structure Fire
LOCATION: 500 Block, Collierstown Rd.
DATE: April 15, 2026
TIME: 17:33

Two days ago, Virginia Military Institute Emergency Medical Services responded to a working residential structure fire on the 500 block of Collierstown Rd. Response 14 responded with two personnel (who were familiar with fireground operations) to assist with rehabilitation and remained assigned to the incident for approximately an hour and a half. The incident was marked under control around 19:30. No injuries were reported. Additional information on the fire is available through FOIA requests.

Approximately 45 fire and EMS personnel responded including CHF9, DPCHF9, DPCHF5, CAPT5-1, RSP14, E93, AMB18, CMD9, E1, E107, E1101, ATK11, TNK1, TNK4, TNK6, TNK11, TNK106, SPT6, SPT108, AMB33, and AMB47 as well as approximately 5 law enforcement personnel and utilities.

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT:

Introducing the newest addition to our fleet, Ambulance 141. This marks a huge milestone in our step towards transition from a BLS non-transport agency to an ALS equipped, transport agency! This ambulance will go in service once inspected and will service the campus. Thank you to everyone involved in this process to make this opportunity possible.
