The ARP helps to reduce asbestos exposure and risks in the areas of Lincoln County, Montana. The City-County Board of Health for Lincoln County developed the Asbestos Resource Program (ARP) to address concerns about the risk of asbestos exposure until final Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) remedies are implemented. A’s designated superfund site and the surrounding areas of Lincoln County, MT. The City-County Board of Health established the ARP to focus on meeting the community’s needs for prevention of asbestos exposure without added burden on the community members themselves. The ARP is built on three pillars: education, resources and initiatives. The education provided will help educate the public regarding the risks associated with exposure to asbestos and how to reduce those risks in our community. Information on potential asbestos issues, historic and current, will be provided in schools, at local community events and will be made available to the citizens directly through the ARP office. The resources pillar will provide various resources to help the public manage the risks associated with asbestos. Resources are being developed to provide the community with opportunity to reduce their individual and community exposures with guidelines and support. The initiatives pillar will revise existing or establish new codes, ordinances and regulations, for the purpose of reducing or preventing the public’s risk of exposure to asbestos.
