Just a reminder that you a required to get permission for all burning if you live in Seward County.

This evening our crew responded to an illegal uncontrolled burn that had spread to hay bales, railroad ties, and the grass. We will never issue burn permits on Red Flag days, and it is for this reason.

Please do your part to keep your neighbors and your county safe.

It has been a long week for your SCFD crew! Between trainings and fires, they have been working hard. Your SCFD crews ran 6 calls within 24 hours!

This week your SCFD crew trained on RIT and mayday scenarios. In a department as small as ours, we don't have a dedicated RIT team.

We are trained to depend on one another, in training and on calls.

This week your SCFD crew trained on VEIS.
Vent. Enter. Isolate. Search.

On Tuesday, they trained on the extrication aspects of VEIS. On Thursday, they brought everything together and trained on scenarios. This included unconscious patients and firefighters.

This is training. You can't see much but what you can hear is everything. Low air bells ringing, crews communicating, and the sounds of objects in the way. On Wednesday and Thursday, SCFD crews trained on search and rescue. Units worked on their search and crawling skills and then applied everything. By training in the dark, firefighters are forced to rely on what they can feel and hear, not what they can see. Check out more pictures and videos in the comments.

This morning SCFD units were paged out to a grass fire West of Kismet. Units arrived on scene and quickly began to put out the fire. No structures were burned and units are still on scene.

This evening the Seward County Fire District was paged out to at least 8 grass fires throughout the county. Due to the amount of fires, units received mutual aid from the surrounding area. At this time mutual aid has been released. There are no active threats and units will be on scene conducting mop up.
