"Arrive as neighbors, leave as family"

That's the motto for Liberty Hill Collective, our community's new nature school and gathering place.

They are excited to "be a spot where people can spend quality time," explained Rachael Dunn, the founder and director of Liberty Hill Collective.

Students at the Collective learn preschool skills in an outdoor setting. They enjoy plenty of running, climbing, and imagination play while they also learn their alphabet and numbers. Older children benefit from reading, social skills, world cultures, and study themes.

The Collective is foremost a nature school, but the team is excited to grow into much more. Joreé Shields is the community coordinator, and she is working diligently to host Mom's Night Out, workshops, movie nights, special guests, date nights, and collaborations with Liberty Hill schools and clubs.

Gathering together, whether for school or social time, strengthens relationships. The ladies at Liberty Hill Collective are excited to be a staple in our community for gathering.

The Collective is accepting new students, ages 3-10. Monday-Thursday classes are formed based on ages. Friday enrichment starts in November (for all ages through high school).

Meet the Team:

Rachael is a former teacher, with over 15 years of elementary experience in Austin ISD and Round Rock ISD. She also has special education certifications and a Master's degree in Educational Administration.

Joreé was an animator before having kids. Recently, she has worked with Fit4Mom to manage their events, festivals, and play groups.

Will it happen?
Have you ever found yourself standing somewhere between what is and what could be? I was on a Zoom call this week with our architect working through something that has become ridiculously complicated.
At HopeOpoly, as money is raised throughout the night, we want people to literally watch a forever home being built in front of them.
When we first had the idea, it sounded pretty simple.
“We have to see the house getting built somehow.”
Turns out…not simple. 😂
But during the call, they started flying me through the rendering of the house.
The bedrooms.
The kitchen.
The living room.
The front door.
And for a minute, I stopped thinking about animations and run-of-show documents and auction packages and the approximately nine million details that apparently go into putting on a fundraising gala.
And I thought:
Holy cow. We’re actually going to try to do this.
On October 24, we are going to put a bunch of people in a room and ask:
Can we fund a house tonight?
An actual house.
A forever home for kids with profound disabilities who already call Hope House their family.
And I have no idea what's going to happen.
Will people show up?
(We're almost sold out of sponsorships. Which is CRAZY.)
Will people keep buying tickets?
(I sure hope so. We only have about 60 left.)
Will the microphones work?
(They will. We have an incredible production director donating his time. 😂)
Will these auction packages actually come together?
(Somehow they will. My friend Kate promised me. And there are a few I'm already jealous of whoever wins.)
Will people give?
Will the house get built?
I don't know.
Because most of my days right now are spent buried in details. Emails. Meetings. Graphics. Phone calls. Spreadsheets. Sponsors. Volunteers. Tables. Food. Parking. Production.
And that Zoom call snapped me out of all of it.
For just a minute, I could see what could be.
A house full of life.
Kids who don't have to start over somewhere else.
Kids who get to keep the caregivers, relationships and family they've built at Hope House.
Kids who know:
You belong here.
This is your home.
You don't have to leave.
(Deep breathe)
I can barely bear the thought of it in a good way.
Because I think, underneath all the stuff we spend our lives chasing, most of us want the same thing.
We want our lives to count.
We want to use some of these days we've been given to make somebody else's life better.
And on October 24, a room full of people is going to get the chance to do exactly that.
In this economy.
With the Longhorns playing Ole Miss. (The game will be on the screens) 😂
With a thousand perfectly reasonable reasons why this is wildly crazy.
We're going to try to build the house anyway.
Will it happen?
I don't know.
There's only one way to find out.
And now…I should probably get back to the other 999 things on the list.

I'm suiting up for ice hockey! 🧊

Did you know THE CROSSOVER offers skating lessons and leagues for ice hockey and ice skating?

Just a quick drive down the road from Liberty Hill, a whole new world of sports is available at The Crossover.

Kids and adults are welcome to jump into classes! Try your skills on the ice and field rinks, dance, volleyball, pickleball, or soccer. The Crossover also offers concerts, sports therapy, and even church.
