We are pleased to announce the Liberty Hill Development Foundation has begun work on providing new homes for five of our sculptures at the International Sculpture Park adjacent to the Louine Noble Elementary School. The new concrete pads and connecting walkways are being installed near John’s Knot inside the Lions Foundation Park. They will be the location for four pieces now situated along the trail in the Foundation Park as well as one now in front of the public library. This effort will consolidate the sculpture collection into one location.

This activity, of course, takes money, and contributions to the limited financial resources of the Liberty Hill Development Foundation would be much appreciated. In addition to maintaining and operating the Lions Foundation Park, the Development Foundation has the mission of the restoring and preserving the sculptures created during the 1976 International Sculpture Symposium. As the Development Foundation is a recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, any donation is tax deductible in accordance with IRS regulations. Donations may be mailed to the Foundation at P.O. Box 300, Liberty Hill 78642, or made via PayPal by accessing our website, lhsculptures.com.

We are pleased and excited to announce the refurbishment of the John's Knot sculpture is complete. The piece, created by Tom Sayres during the 1976 International Sculpture Symposium, has been treated with two coats of rust preventative and two coats of high quality exterior paint.

A reminder, if you will permit us: this sculpture, and the others in the Park, are works of art. They are expensive and could be easily damaged. Please do not allow your children to climb on them. It's just not safe.

After a thorough removal of old paint and rust by Joe Garcia (on ladder in his protective gear) of Dustless Brushing TX, Craig Hanley and Larry Nicholson (in photo) and Patrick McElhinney of the Liberty Hill Development Foundation applied a primer coat of protective paint. We plan to apply a second primer coat next week (weather permitting).

It appears the weather tomorrow (Wednesday, December 8) will be suitable for us to continue work on the renovation of the John’s Knot sculpture at Lions Foundation Park. We will be using a sandblaster to remove the pealing paint and rust from the metal surface and then immediately using a spray painter to apply a primer coat. Users of the Park are advised not to park their vehicles in the Foundation Park parking lot where they might be subject to over-spray from the sandblasting or the application of the primer paint. Users of the school parking lot also should be aware of the possibility of over-spray.

We are postponing the sandblasting/painting of John's Knot scheduled for Thursday due to expected weather (too cold, too windy). We'll let you know when we reschedule.

John’s Knot, a sculpture created by Thomas Sayre during the 1976 International Sculpture Symposium, is one step closer to its final renovation. The two pieces of the sculpture have been reunited on the concrete slab that will be its new home in Lions Foundation Park. Next on the agenda is to sandblast the pealing paint and rust from the metal surface and to apply a primer coat. This activity is scheduled, weather permitting, for Thursday morning, December 3. Users of the Park are advised not to park their vehicles in the Foundation Park parking lot where they might be subject to over-spray from the sandblasting or the application of the primer paint. Users of the school parking lot also should be aware of the possibility of over-spray.

John’s Knot is getting a facelift! The large steel sculpture, created by artist Tom Sayre during the 1976 International Sculpture Symposium, has been separated into its two main components and moved from its location in the International Sculpture Park next to the Liberty Hill Intermediate School to the Lions Foundation Park. As soon as the weather is suitable, volunteers will begin work on sanding and repainting the piece to restore it to its original look.
