Not gonna lie… drawing a coloring book the “old fashioned” way is definitely slower.
While most coloring books today are made on an iPad, I still sketch mine with pencil and paper at my kitchen table, trace them by hand with marker, then scan them into my computer one page at a time. There’s just something special about real paper, messy sketchbooks, and hand-drawn lines that an app can’t replace for me.
This little Arches National Park mini coloring book is especially meaningful because it’s based on places we’ve actually been, photos I’ve personally taken, and sketches from our travels over the years. I’m basically turning memories from the road into tiny coloring books for me and my kids when we go back to. 🏜️
Every page is drawn by hand, inspired by real adventures, and made with a whole lot of love (and probably too much Thai ice tea).
I can’t wait to share more of the process with you.
Today I’m drawing the back cover of my coloring book, Arches NP just has so many beautiful places, that I could not include all in the coloring book so I made a collage for the back of the book of the arches that are not in the main pages.
Stay tuned to get sneak peeks and me draw the rest of the pages!
