🔨 Fix-It Day
đź“… Saturday, September 12th
đź•‘ 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

See our new Makerspace and see what it can do - and fix - for you!

If you have something that’s broken, missing pieces, won’t work properly, or is giving you a hard time, come and see if we can fix it! Examples of items that we can try to help with include phones, tablets, small broken items, missing pieces from boardgames, and more. Drop off your item, fill out a short form, and come back when your item is fixed! This is also a great opportunity to see what’s available in our new “Makerspace”, a workspace for crafting, repairing, and creativity.

Please note that we are unable to help with cars, textiles such as clothes, large appliances, or confidential paperwork such as taxes.

-All Ages
-No sign-ups required
-All materials provided
-Drop-off and pick-up if needed

Last month, we practiced mental health skills at Mindfulness for Kids!

Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to what is going on inside and outside yourself, without judgement or overreaction. It allows you to slow down and reconnect, and can help with anxiety, stress, and more! It's never too early to start practicing mindfulness. At this program, we learned all about it and made several crafts designed to help with daily stress, like squishy stress balls and "worry pets"! Take a look to see what the kids made, and how every creation is unique.

Casey, bringing local history to life with a combination of performance, reenactment, and storytelling.

Colonel William Casey was one of the first explorers in the Green River area of Kentucky, including Lincoln County, Casey County, and Adair County. He was a revolutionary war hero and the great-grandfather of Mark Twain - but for the rest of the details on his fascinating life, come to Casey History Makers!

The votes are in, and they say the best pickles are Bread and Butter!

Our pickle taste testers tried out 11 different kinds of pickled items, ranging from your classic dill pickles to more unique options like okra and garlic stuffed olives! The less common pickles were divisive - you either loved em' or hated em'. In the end, the classics came out on top! The pickles with the best rating across our 13 attendees was Bread and Butter with Sweet Gherkins and Sliced Dill following close behind. Take a look at the last picture for the final ranking!

25 Years ago, the Wizarding World came to the big screen!

On November 16th, 2001, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone released in theaters across the United Kingdom and the United States. We're celebrating this magical anniversary with Book Bingo!
When you come to the Library and sign up, you'll receive a special Harry Potter Bingo card. Every square will have a different theme such as "book set in a school" or "chosen one trope". When you read a book that matches a theme, scratch off the square and come back to the Library to pick a prize!
But that's not all! Get a bingo or find all 4 hidden house seals for a raffle ticket. One lucky raffle winner will get a FREE 8 movie set of the Harry Potter films! The more you read, the better chance you'll have of winning the raffle prize.

Dolly Parton's passing will leave a void in the hearts of so many, but especially in the hundreds of thousands of children across the world who have received free books from Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.

Dolly once said that "If I'm remembered 100 years from now, I hope it will be not for looks but for books." We'll remember Dolly for her amazing voice, acting, and above all, her generosity and kindness. Among her many charitable donations and organizations, Dolly created the Imagination Library in 1995. For 31 years the Imagination Library has gifted over 300 Million books to children under 5.

But as Dolly put it, "If you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain" - so it's time to embody Dolly and look for the rainbow in this time of rain! Comment below if you or your child have ever received books from the Imagination Library and share some joy!
