Thank you to the Cookson Hills Electric Cooperative, Inc. crews! They are working hard to restore power. Follow their post for updates
UPDATE: 11:45 PM
Thank you for your patience as we continue navigating through this outage! We believe we see the light at the end of the tunnel. We have several individual/small outages with most of those being the result of a broken pole. We have crews assigned to each of these and they continue working to get these restored.
We are optimistic that those without power on the Liberty Substation - Feeder 2 will be back up in the next 2-3 hours if things go as planned. Crews are currently working to replace equipment at the substation and believe the new equipment will resolve the outage for those on Feeder 2. *This is our best estimate, but aren't sure what we will find when the new equipment is installed.*
Please know that our guys are still working hard, but they are getting pretty tired, so we want to again thank you for your understanding. We have literally watched them running to and from their work trucks and equipment to expedite the restoration. We have seem them wade through water, climb through trees, cut through limbs, take a drink and sweat it right back out. We have seen them miss concerts tonight, miss a golf tournament this afternoon, miss tucking their little ones in, and the list goes on. What we haven't seen is them complaining, missing a beat, or doing anything short of embracing the target to get the power restored. Thank you guys for your dedication to our members and we are very proud that you are on the Cookson Hills team!
UPDATE 8:54 PM:
Power has been restored for those members on the Liberty Substation, Feeder 1. If you are still without power, please call 800-328-2368 or report it through the SmartHub app. Thank you, once again, for your patience!
Update: 7:57 PM
It has been a long afternoon of outage restoration, but we are getting closer! Members who receive power from the Liberty Substation, Feeder 2 should all be back on at this time. Crews are continuing to work on the areas surrounding Liberty Feeder 1, and we will continue to provide updates as they come. Thank you!
UPDATE: 2:41 PM
Those on the Muldrow Substation will experience another brief outage in the coming minutes. This is part of the process to re-energize the system. We are anticipating this outage to last approximately 10 minutes then your power should be restored. Thank you!
UPDATE: 1:36 PM
We do have at least 14 broken poles confirmed at this time. Please keep in mind that we are also dealing with over two feet of rain in our area over the last 90 days. This has resulted in an extremely saturated ground which means we continue dealing with some trucks and equipment getting stuck as they work on restoration. The wet ground also adds to the restoration time and we know this is frustrating for our members who are without power. While we would like to be able to provide an estimate on the timeframe for restoration, it would only be a guess at this time and we don't want to provide any inaccurate information. We apologize for the outage and greatly appreciate your patience as our crews continue working on restoration. Thank you!
UPDATE: 12:11 PM
Crews continue working along with tree service crews to work on the outage. We also have contract electric utility crews who are helping with the outage. As you are likely aware, we had tornado warnings in multiple counties across our service territory this morning. We do have broken poles and are still dealing with a lot of broken trees and limbs that are impacting the restoration effort. We do not have an estimate for the restoration. If you rely on electricity for a medical device and do not have a generator for backup power, please consider implementing your emergency backup plan. Thank you!
UPDATE: 9:45 AM
Crews are out working on power restoration. We have around 3,000 currently without power. We will continue working on restoration efforts, however, we do not yet have an estimate on when power will be restored for everyone on the system. The damage is widespread with trees down in multiple locations. Some trees have blown over an onto our power lines and others are across roadways that are blocking access to some locations. Tree trimming crews are working along with our team to help with these issues. Thank you for your patience and we will provide updates as new information becomes available.
UPDATE: 8:30 AM
The Liberty Substation is also currently without power. Members who receive power from the Liberty Substation or the Muldrow Substation will all be without power until crews get the substations back up. Crews are working on these issues and we will do our best to keep you updated. In addition to downed lines be aware of flooding as well. It's crucial to avoid flooded areas and take a different route when encountering them, as even a small amount of rushing water can be dangerous. Thank you!
UPDATE: 7:19 AM
The Muldrow Substation is without power. All members who receive power from the Muldrow Substation will be without power until crews are able to restore the substation. We will keep you updated as we have additional information. Please stay away from downed power lines and call 911 to report any downed or low-hanging lines you see.
We have multiple outages across our territory. We also have multiple tornado warnings in our area. Please make sure you are weather aware and take necessary action to remain safe. We have had crews out overnight working on outages and will continue work on power restoration when the tornadic weather passes. If you have an outage, please do not report it on Facebook. Report outages using the free SmartHub app or call us at 800-328-2368. Be safe and thank you!
