Gray Cox teaches philosophy, peace studies and language learning at College of the Atlantic and is a cofounder and Clerk of the Quaker Institute for the Future. His book, _Smarter Planet or Wiser Earth? Dialogue and Collaboration in the Era of Artificial Intelligence_, is on display at the library. Plus he will be selling copies after his presentation at a 10% discount. Gray is also a singer/songwriter and lives with his wife at the edge of Acadia National Park where they garden and go adventuring with their grandchildren. Maine Speaks is a program from the Maine Humanities Council that supports individuals and organizations all over Maine who want to bring people in their community together to learn from and talk with a speaker who will share their expertise and lived experience in engaging ways. Free Fishing Weekend! On May 30–31, residents and nonresidents can fish Maine waters license-free all weekend long. This is your chance to get out on the water—no license required.

A quick reminder: while fishing licenses are not required for the weekend, all other fishing laws and regulations still apply. Before you head out, be sure to check the regulations for the body of water you plan to fish—size and bag limits, and any special rules are still in effect.

Some waters (tributaries, outlets, connected waters) are not listed individually and may be listed with the main waterbody, or waters with an S-3 code (tributaries closed to taking smelts).

UPDATE: 7 people will be provided a device from WBC and Liberty Library. We still have tablets and laptops to give away so we have extended the application process until they’re gone. Plus GiveItGetIT was so impressed with this project that they are donating 10 more laptops. Applications are available at Town Offices; Liberty, Palermo, and Searsmont libraries; Walker Health Center; and various other locations. See more information and for the online directions and application at https://liberty.lib.me.us/online/ndec/

These computers do not strictly need to be used for Telehealth but you will need to learn a bit about Telehealth. Please tell your friends and neighbors who may not see this on Facebook.

Eleven people, young and old, gathered at the Liberty Library this morning to build birdhouses. This is Cheryl with her finished project! Huge "thank you" to Leigh Norcott and John Twomey for the information about local birds and all the supplies and directions for building the houses. And the black flies were not awful!
