Liberty Fire Department

Liberty Fire Department We are the LIBERTY FIRE DEPARTMENT. We've proudly been serving our community since 1927. The foundation of the Liberty Fire Department was laid years ago.

Liberty Fire Department is the second oldest fire department in Randolph County. This foundation was crafted by people that saw a need for fire protection in the Town of Liberty. The dedication of the founding members that started the department set the high standards that we still hold today.

Sparky - A huge THANK YOU to all of our generous sponsors who helped make the purchase of our new Sparky the Fire Dog costume possible!

Because of your support, we now have an exciting new way to help share important fire prevention and safety messages-with children and families throughout our community. Sparky will be a great addition to school visits, community events, and fire prevention programs as we continue working to keep our community safe.
We truly appreciate your investment in fire safety education and your continued support of our department. Together, we are making a difference—one fire prevention message at a time.

As of 8 a.m. Friday, May 8, burn permits are available statewide. Residents can obtain a burn permit
from any authorized permitting agent or online at https://apps.ncagr.gov/burnpermits/. All burn permits granted
before the statewide burn ban were canceled when the ban became effective. To legally burn, a valid permit must be obtained.

Residents with questions regarding their specific county can contact their local N.C. Forest Service
county ranger or county fire marshal’s office. To find contact information for your local NCFS county ranger,
visit www.ncforestservice.gov/contacts.

The statewide burn ban remains in effect until further notice despite weekend rain in some areas. Persistent dry weather and increasing rainfall deficits from the last several months have left most of the state needing 10 inches of rain or more

Kimesville, Liberty, Julian, Mt Hope, Snow Camp, Climax, Southeast, and Staley working together on water supply training.

In rural communities, teamwork between fire departments isn’t just important—it’s essential.

Without hydrants in many areas, we rely on each other to make it happen. From establishing a steady water supply through drafting, to setting up and managing drop tanks, and keeping the flow of water moving with tanker shuttle operations—it takes coordination, communication, and trust.

Every department, every apparatus, and every firefighter plays a critical role. When we train together and operate as one team, we’re able to deliver the water needed to protect lives and property, no matter how remote the location.

This is why mutual aid and ongoing training matter. When the call comes in, we don’t work as separate departments—we work as one.

Stronger together. Always readyi

We had a great time at the Touch-A-Truck event in Asheboro, hanging out with everyone—and of course, Sparky was a big hit!

From high-fives to photos, Sparky loved meeting all the kids (and a few adults too!). Events like this are a great way for us to connect with our community, share fire safety tips, and remind everyone that firefighters are your friends.

Thanks to everyone who came out and made it such a fun day
