Back to School Safety Reminder!🍎🚌

As schools in Liberty begin the new year, Monday August 3rd, the Liberty Police Department reminds drivers to prepare for increased traffic, school buses, and children traveling to and from school. Please leave a few minutes earlier, slow down, and give yourself enough time to arrive safely.

Officers will have an increased presence in school zones and around schools, focusing on educating drivers about school zone safety.

Liberty PD asks every driver to make safety their top priority. Protecting our children is everyone’s responsibility.

Monday, July 20, 2026 we had the pleasure of swearing in four new police officers to the Liberty Police Department! We are excited to have these individuals join our team as they begin serving and protecting the citizens of Liberty. We know they will do well.

We are also proud to recognize the promotion of two members of our department:

Sergeant Jason Rice has been promoted to serve as our new School Resource Officer Sergeant. In this role, Sgt. Rice will help strengthen the relationship between law enforcement, our students, faculty, and families while continuing to ensure a safe learning environment.

Sergeant Kandice Ellison has been promoted to Patrol Sergeant. Sgt. Ellison’s leadership, dedication, and commitment to public safety have earned her this promotion, and we are confident she will continue to excel in her new role.

Congratulations to all. We are proud to have each of you as part of the LPD family and look forward to all you will accomplish in serving our community.

The City of Liberty Police Department has received multiple animal services calls regarding a residence on Milam Street in Liberty.

During the initial visit, Animal Service Officers met with the homeowner to discuss the condition of the dogs and provided instructions on the care required to bring the animals conditions into compliance. Officers emphasized that the animals must have adequate food, fresh water, and appropriate shelter at all times.

During a follow up inspection Animal Service Officers observed that the conditions of the dogs had improved and met the required standards. Since the initial contact, Animal Services Officers have continued to visit the property daily to monitor the animals' welfare. The homeowner has been cooperative with law enforcement throughout the process.

We are aware that videos of the dogs are continuing to circulate on social media. Those videos were taken when the initial call for service was received and do not reflect the current conditions of the animals observed by our Animal Service Officers.

The City of Liberty Police Department takes all animal welfare complaints seriously. Every report is thoroughly investigated, and Animal Control Officers will continue to monitor the situation as needed to help ensure the animals receive proper care and that all applicable laws and ordinances are followed.

This week, the Liberty Police Department proudly recognizes and celebrates the dedicated professionals during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.

Our telecommunicators are the calm voice in the chaos, the first first responders. They are the unseen heroes who answer the call, gather critical information, and ensure that help is on the way when it matters most. Their professionalism, compassion, and quick thinking save lives every single day.
