Just one day after the announcement of Clay County’s Top 10 Most Wanted by the Clay County, Mo. Prosecutor's Office, a tipster provided the information we needed to arrest one of them last night. Deputies and Kearney Missouri Police Department arrested Kristen H. Wood outside a Kearney hotel. She is now in custody in our Detention Center, which you can see a deputy escorting her into in this picture.

The anonymous tipster in this case will get $3,000 from Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers. You can, too, if you give information to KC Crime Stoppers that leads to the arrest of one of these individuals.

Defendant Sentenced under Valentine’s Law

On May 27, Assistant Prosecutors Sean Emery and Alyssa Benjamin secured a 4-year sentence for Defendant Andres Galvan-Zuniga for the felony of Aggravated Fleeing. The sentence follows an incident on February 8, 2025, involving a high-speed pursuit that endangered commuters in a residential area and on Westbound Highway 210.

The pursuit began after a Clay County Sheriff deputy spotted Galvan-Zuniga’s silver Cadillac XTS driving without headlights on near North Brighton Avenue and NE 42nd Terrace. The vehicle matched the description of a car that had fled a Kansas City Police officer earlier that day. After the deputy activated emergency lights and sirens, the Defendant suddenly fled the scene, accelerating rapidly from 18 MPH to 63 MPH in a 35 MPH zone.

During the pursuit, the Defendant reached speeds of up to 103 MPH in a 35 MPH residential area, ran a red light, and swerved to avoid tire deflation devices near approaching vehicles at the intersection of N Parvin Road and N Brighton. The pursuit ended when Galvan-Zuniga stopped his vehicle on the roadway at the Highway 210 entrance ramp. A passenger briefly fled into a woodline but later returned, and both individuals were apprehended by deputies. The passenger was later sentenced to 30 days in jail for resisting arrest during the incident.

“We will continue using all legal tools available to keep our roads safe and hold offenders accountable.” says Prosecutor Zach Thompson. “Anyone being pulled over by police should think twice before making the dangerous decision to run from a traffic stop.”

We thank the Clay County, Missouri Sheriff’s Office, the Court, and our Assistant Prosecutors for their investigative work and collaboration in ensuring our roadways remain safe for all.

Today is about remembering those who gave all so that we can live free. It would be the perfect time to learn more about our local heroes at the Clay County Veterans Memorial in Anita B. Gorman Park, located on Vivion Road near North Oak Trafficway.

Our administrative offices are closed for Memorial Day. This includes the CCW and S*x Offender Registration and Enforcement Office. There also will be no visitation in Detention.
