🎆 Fireworks Safety Reminder 🎆

Fireworks can be a fun way to celebrate, but safety should always come first! Before lighting fireworks, keep these important tips in mind:
✅ Keep a bucket of water or water hose nearby
✅ Never allow young children to handle fireworks
✅ Light one firework at a time and move away quickly
✅ Never relight a “dud” firework
✅ Keep fireworks away from homes, dry grass, and vehicles
✅ Always follow local laws and manufacturer instructions
✅ Sparklers burn extremely hot — use caution around children

As celebrations begin, please remember that fireworks are common during holidays and special events. However, 911 should be reserved for emergencies only.
📞 Call 911 immediately if:
🔥 A fire has started
🚑 Someone is injured
🏠 Fireworks are threatening homes, vehicles, or structures
⚠️ There is an immediate danger to life or property
🚫 Non-emergency fireworks complaints should be directed to your local non-emergency dispatch number 936-336-4500 ext 1 when available.

Today, on National Police Officer Memorial Day, we stand in solemn remembrance of the six brave men of the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our community.

We honor:

Deputy Sheriff Virgil Parsley (1928)
Deputy McFarland, III (1990)
Patrol Deputy Wilburn Junior “Will” Agy (1995)
Corporal David King (2002)
Deputy Sheriff Odell McDuffie, Jr. (2010)
Deputy Sheriff Richard Edward Whitten (2020)

These heroes wore the badge with courage, honor, and an unwavering commitment to protecting others, even at the cost of their own lives.

They did not run from danger.
They stood between evil and the innocent.
They answered the call, knowing the risks, because service was not just a duty, it was who they were.

Their sacrifice is forever woven into the history of this office and the foundation of this county. Their names will never fade, their service will never be forgotten, and their legacy will continue to live on through every deputy who wears this badge with pride.

Today, we remember not just the way they died, but the way they lived with strength, bravery, and purpose.

To the families who carry their memory, to the brothers and sisters who continue the watch, and to the community they gave everything to protect, we honor you.

Lint happens. Fires don’t have to. Lint buildup can lead to a dryer fire if it’s not cleaned regularly.

• Clean the lint filter before or after each load.
• Make sure the outdoor vent flap opens when the dryer is running.
• Have a qualified service person clean the inside of the dryer cabinet and exhaust duct once a year.
