LFD’s Water Rescue team consisting of rescue divers and swiftwater rescue technicians conducted their annual swim test and dive skills today. Lt Naspinski and FFs Woodward, Reckling, Boyle, Ahlgrim, Moya, Pyne, and Riley all proved their skills to handle any water related emergency. Special thanks to Libertyville Recreation for allowing us to use Adler Pool!

Happy National Pet Fire Safety Day! Chester The LFD Comfort Dog would like to provide the following fire safety tips for dogs:

1. Include your dog in your home fire escape plan. Know which exits to use and designate a family member responsible for grabbing the dog (keep a leash or carrier by the door for quick access). Practice a quick "evacuation" drill so your dog gets used to following you calmly.

2. Install and maintain smoke detectors, and consider a pet alert sticker. Place detectors on every level of your home. On windows or doors, use a visible "pets inside" sticker (with the number and type of pets) so firefighters know to look for your dog.

3. Never leave your dog unattended around fire hazards. Keep them away from stoves, fireplaces, candles, space heaters, or electrical cords they might chew. Crate or confine them safely when you’re not home to reduce the chance of accidental fires.

Bonus tip: Make sure your dog is microchipped and wears updated ID tags — this greatly improves the odds of being reunited if you’re separated during an emergency. Stay safe! 🐶🔥

Happy 4th of July, Libertyville! 🇺🇸

Today marks the 250th anniversary of the United States, and we’re scheduled to celebrate with themed America 250 opening and finale displays in an extended fireworks show TONIGHT! 🎆

Don’t miss the Village Band performing patriotic music starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Butler Lake Band Shell, followed by a spectacular America 250 themed fireworks opening display beginning at approximately 9:30 p.m.

Reminder: For safety reasons, Lake Street closes to pedestrians and vehicle traffic starting at 9 p.m. Parking is available at Butler Lake Park (residents only), the main commuter lot, and both parking garages.
