🚨 Public Notice – Training Activity at & SoakZone 🚨

The Westmoreland County SWAT Team is conducting a scheduled training exercise today at Idlewild and Soak Zone.

👮‍♂️ Residents and passersby may notice an increased law enforcement presence in and around the park.
⚠️ This is only a training exercise—there is no active threat to the public.

We kindly ask everyone to:
• Remain calm and do not be alarmed
• Use caution when traveling near the area
• Follow any directions provided by law enforcement personnel

Thank you for your cooperation as first responders conduct this important training to keep our community safe.

UPDATE: Owner has been located. Thank you for your help.

Attempting to find the owner of a large, possibly shepherd breed dog light brown in color. The dog was struck by a vehicle in the area of the 400 block on State Route 271 in Waterford. No collar tags or microchip.

The LVPD extends our deepest condolences to the PA State Police in the wake of the tragic line-of-duty passing of Corporal Timothy O’Connor Jr.. We honor his immeasurable sacrifice, and share our deepest sympathies to his family and all those who loved him.

The Department is deeply saddened to announce the loss of a dedicated member of our ranks, Corporal Timothy J. O’Connor Jr. He served as a Patrol Unit Supervisor at PSP Embreeville and was killed in the line of duty on March 8. Read more at bit.ly/PSP-TJO26.

Route 381 between Route 30 and Fish Hatchery Rd is closed due to flooded roadway with a tree and wires down into the water.

DO NOT go around cones, signs, or other traffic control devices to attempt to pass through the area. This is not only extremely dangerous, but also illegal.

§ 3111.1. Obedience to traffic-control devices warning of hazardous conditions.
(a) General rule.--The driver of any vehicle, unless otherwise directed by an emergency service responder, shall not drive past, around or through a sign or traffic-control device closing a road or highway due to an existing or potentially hazardous condition.
(b) Penalty.--Any person violating this section commits a summary offense and shall, upon conviction, pay a fine of not more than $250 unless the violation results in the utilization of the services of a first responder or emergency medical or rescue personnel, including towing services, in which case the fine shall be increased to not less than $250 nor more than $500.
(c) Emergency response costs.--A person convicted of violating this section shall, in addition to any other sentence imposed or restitution ordered under 42 Pa.C.S. § 9721(c) (relating to sentencing generally), be sentenced to pay restitution in an amount equal to the cost of fire and police response and emergency medical service or emergency preparedness response resulting from the offense.

Another furry friend spotted running around in the snow. This pup has been spotted near Town and Country Ford on State Route 711. Be cautious driving in the area as this dog has been running along the roadway. The dog would not come to officers.nna
