KIUC Announces Retirement of Member Services and Communications Manager

Kauaʻi Island Utility Cooperative (KIUC) is accepting applications for the position of Member Services and Communications Manager in anticipation of the retirement of current manager Beth Amaro in early 2027.

Amaro joined KIUC as Communications Manager in 2016 and was promoted to Member Services and Communications Manager in 2022. Since 2020, she has also served as KIUC’s primary government affairs liaison.

“It’s been an honor to serve our community as a member of the KIUC team for the past ten years,” said Amaro. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to have worked alongside so many talented and dedicated people and to have played a role in sharing KIUC’s story with our members and the community.”

KIUC President and Chief Executive Officer David Bissell said the cooperative hopes to have Amaro’s successor in place before her planned departure in January 2027 to provide for a smooth transition.

“Beth has made extraordinary contributions to the success of KIUC,” said Bissell. “We wish her the best in her well-deserved retirement and look forward to identifying a highly qualified individual who can build on the strong foundation she has helped establish.”

The Member Services and Communications Manager oversees KIUC’s member services, communications, media relations, community outreach and government affairs functions and plays a key role in supporting the cooperative’s relationships with its members and key stakeholders.

A complete job description, qualifications and application information are available on the Careers section of KIUC’s website. Individuals with the requisite experience and qualifications are encouraged to apply.

Don't be scammed!

The Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism (DBEDT) and Hawaiʻi Green Infrastructure Authority (HGIA), in partnership with the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA) Office of Consumer Protection, is warning residents about deceptive and misleading claims made by solar door-to-door sales representatives.

Recent reports indicate that deceptive sales representatives may falsely claim that certain contractors are out of business or falsely state that a state program provides free solar photovoltaic and energy storage systems.

The public should be aware that the state does not provide free solar PV systems, nor does any of its employees sell solar systems or conduct outreach about its programs through cold-calling, door-to-door sales, door-knocking, or similar practices.

Official state of Hawaiʻi employees are able to present official photo ID cards upon request as proof of their employment. Door-to-door sales of goods and services in person at a place other than the seller’s business address are regulated by and subject to state and federal consumer protection laws.
