Without any hesitation, meeting extraordinary people is the highlight of being in Congress. A few days ago, I met Katie. She is an inspiration. Yes, she has battled numerous and significant health challenges. No, those challenges have not slowed her down in any way. Katie started a nonprofit to advocate for young people who are fighting rare diseases; she is an avid (and accomplished!) outdoorswoman and hunter; and generally, she is as joyful as any person I have met. Thank you Katie for your work, the many contributions you make to your community and to North Carolina as a whole. I was blessed meeting you and look forward to seeing you again soon!

My LEGO Act is about restoring freedom to build, farm, or develop. Currently, a bureaucrat can halt business activity of anyone, whether it a small farmer or a big infrastructure company, even if the bureaucrat is wrong.

If a private party is acting in a reasonable way, Washington should not have the ability to stop that activity. Period.

For most of our nation’s history, community banks powered progress for our farmers, entrepreneurs, and local governments.

House Republicans just fixed a sloppy, one-size-fits-all regulation that stifled lending, killed competition, and made life harder for Americans.

Democrats claim to support deporting convicted illegal aliens.

One problem: they don’t support prosecuting and convicting them.

I’d prefer deporting illegals now rather than wait for Americans to be harmed, or worse.
