The Harnett County Board of Commissioners has vacancies on the following board:

Harnett County Library Board of Trustees
– Boone Trail Community Representative
– Anderson Creek Community Representative
– Dunn Community Representative

▶ Requirements
The Boone Trail representative must reside in the Boone Trail community. The Anderson Creek representative must reside in the Anderson Creek community. The Dunn representative must reside in the Dunn community.

▶ Function of Board
The Harnett County Library Board of Trustees is an advisory board to the Library. The Board makes recommendations on policy to local government and acts as a liaison between the library, local government, and the community. The Board promotes library service in general and assists in the development of the County Library System and library service throughout Harnett County.

The Board cooperates with and supports the programs of the Harnett County Library System, the North Carolina Library Association, and the North Carolina State Library, and helps unify library action at all levels in North Carolina. The Board provides an effective means of influencing local support for passage of adequate library legislation and promotes complete use of the library facilities and resources.

▶ Meetings
The Board meets quarterly on the fourth Wednesday of January, April, July, and October.

✍️ County citizens wishing to be considered may submit an application to the County Manager’s office at 455 McKinney Parkway, Lillington, NC or fill out an application online at https://nc.harnettlibrary.org/hcpl-board. Please submit an application by Monday, May 25, 2026.

🦖 Unearth a Story with Harnett County Public Library’s 2026 Summer Reading Program!

Join us June 1–July 26, 2026, at all 8 library locations for a summer packed with FREE events for all ages. Enjoy live performances, STEAM activities, crafts, story times, escape rooms, and more!

📍 Events will be held at each of our library locations: Angier Public Library, Anderson Creek Public Library, Benhaven Public Library, Boone Trail Community Center & Library, Coats Public Library, Dunn Public Library, Erwin Public Library, and Harnett County Public Library.

Featured Programs Include:
✨ Grow on the Go: Play, learn, and grow with Harnett County Partnership for Children’s mobile play program.
🎸 Big Bang Boom: Enjoy a unique blend of “kindie” music.
🐺 Grey Seal Puppets: Watch puppets perform “A Tangle of Tales.”
🎩 Dana Hill: Take part in an interactive magic and illusion show.
🐰 Rancho Chikiito: Interact with farm animals including bunnies and chickens.

Families can look forward to STEAM labs, art workshops, escape rooms, movie nights, and unique teen and adult programs including craft nights, gardening workshops, book clubs, and more.

🧑‍🎨 If your artwork isn’t on tour, pick-up begins Monday, May 18.
🏆 If your piece is part of the tour, pick-up begins Tuesday, June 2.

This closure includes the Main Library in Lillington and branches in Angier, Benhaven, Coats, Dunn, Erwin, Anderson Creek, and Boone Trail.
