SCAM ALERT

Harnett County Government is warning residents about a recent scam involving individuals falsely claiming to be employees of the Harnett County Development Services. These scammers are falsely representing themselves as officials from our Planning, Central Permitting, and Inspections team in an effort to solicit payments and sensitive information.

Please be advised:

Development Services will NEVER request wire transfer information.
We do not operate under the name “Planning Commission.”
All official emails will end in “.org.”
Scammers have been using fake email addresses, including:
[email protected] (note the misspelling and incorrect domain) and [email protected] to name a few.

To protect yourself:

Do not respond to suspicious emails.
Do not send any payments without speaking directly with a verified staff member.
Always verify contact information by visiting our official website: www.harnett.org.
If you receive a suspicious message or have any doubts, please contact Harnett County Development Services directly using the verified contact information below, or report the incident to the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office at (910) 893-9111.

Today is the 3rd Annual Community Day! August 7, from 4-7 p.m. This event is FREE and open to Harnett County citizens. As we prepare, view the event map to learn where everything will take place. Take note of all the parking areas, entry, and exit. We have over 40 different vendors who will provide valuable information to attendees. We will have 6 departments to present/ provide demonstration throughout the event:

5:00 p.m. Opioid Task Force
5:20 p.m. Emergency Management
5:40 p.m. Sheriff's Office K-9 demonstration

The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) is developing a comprehensive regional multimodal safety action plan - a Blueprint for Safety - in partnership with NCDOT. The Blueprint for Safety is underway and will be finalized by Fall 2025. Engagement and coordination with stakeholders and members of the community will occur throughout the planning process.
