⏳ Local History Spotlight | Coats High School & Coats Elementary ⏳

All month long, we’ve highlighted free digital tools to help you explore Harnett County’s past via DigitalNC. Today, we have an exciting physical archive announcement! 🎓

Thanks to a generous community donor, we’ve received a massive collection of original Coats School yearbooks:

📚 Coats High School: 1954; 1958–1960; 1962–1966; 1968–1971; 1973–1974; 1983–1985 (plus the history book "Together We Leave").

📚 Coats Elementary: 1988; 1990–1996; 1998–1999; 2004–2005; 2011; 2013; 2015–2016.

What’s Next? These volumes will eventually be digitized for DigitalNC. See Them Today! You don’t have to wait—schedule an appointment at the Main Library in Lillington, and our staff will have your requested years pulled and ready for your trip down memory lane.

Note: This month, we had to split our calendar into two! There’s one for adults and one for youth. Both calendars include events that are open to all ages.

From crafts and story times to book clubs and special events, there’s something for everyone this month.

Learning at the Harnett County Public Library now includes a new skill – cooking! Join us for the Let Them Cook program where teens will enjoy a hands-on cooking experience. Each session will highlight different cooking skills, kitchen safety, and nutrition tips. Come for a fun cooking experience, a look into other culture's cuisines, and a yummy dish made by you!

To celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, we will be learning how to make fresh tortillas!
