Did you know you can help prevent your baby from developing food allergies? Evidence shows that introducing food allergens early can lower the risk of your child developing a food allergy. 💡

To safely introduce allergens, you can:

🔹 Pay attention to timing: Start offering food allergens to your baby when they are ready, around 6 months, when other solids are introduced.
🔹 Avoid choking risks: Baby’s first foods should always be in baby friendly forms.
🔹 Start with one food at a time: Make sure you only offer one new food at a time. This way, if your baby has a reaction, you know which food caused it.
🔹 Understand common allergens: Eggs, dairy, nuts, fish, shellfish, wheat, soy, and sesame are the most common allergies, so it is good to introduce them early.
🔹 Keep your healthcare and WIC team in the loop. They are here to answer questions and offer support during new stages of development!

Don't swallow splash pad water. Did you know that it can take chlorine minutes—and sometimes even days—to kill germs in splash pad water? Swallowing water with germs can cause diarrhea or vomiting.

🚫💧 Drowning can happen quickly—prevent it with these safe swimming tips

Drowning is preventable—whether it’s a pool, bathtub, creek, or lake. Use these key steps:

1. Supervise children closely (arm’s length) any time they’re in or near water—even in bathtubs.
2. Learn basic swimming and water safety skills (swim lessons help, but supervision is still required).
3. Use U.S. Coast Guard–approved life jackets for boating and around natural water.
4. Put safety layers in place (for pools: barriers/fencing; remove hazards when not in use).
5. Assign a responsible adult to provide constant, close supervision.
