PART 800: CHECK! πŸš‘
GARBAGE PLATES: CHECK! πŸ” 🍟

What happens when you get a group of Lima EMS volunteers together with a mission and the promise of food? Things get checked off the list fast!

Today some of our crew came together to tackle our Part 800 inventory check (making sure our equipment/tools/medical supplies are accounted for and we are meeting NYS DOH requirements.)

Thanks to some great teamwork, organization and efficiency, they made quick work of the task!

Of course, no successful volunteer operation is complete without a little incentive so once the inventory was done, it was time for the real reward: GARBAGE PLATES!

It is with heavy hearts that Lima EMS shares the passing of one of our EMS neighbors, Ron Aikin.

Ron was an incredible person who dedicated many years to volunteering with HFMEMS. Many of our members had the privilege of knowing him, working alongside him, and experiencing firsthand the dedication and kindness he brought to the EMS community.

Our heartfelt condolences are with Ron’s family, friends, and his colleagues at HFMEMS during this difficult time. He will be missed by many in the EMS family.

We at Honeoye Falls Mendon Volunteer Ambulance are very saddened to learn about the sudden passing of one of our former volunteers, Ronald Aikin. Ron suffered a stroke on October 1st and was making progress in his recovery but unfortunately succumbed to complications and passed on Tuesday October 20th. Ron was 55.

Ron served his community for most of his life including with us, Mendon Fire, and Fairport Fire. He will truly be missed by all that knew him.

Thank you to Vigilant Fire Training for coming out to help enhance Lima Volunteers driving knowledge and skills today.

1 Bus, 2 agencies (HFLCSD, LSCO), 3 Fire Depts (Lima Lima Volunteer Fire Department, East Avon Fire Department and Livonia Fire Department), 4 EMS Depts (LEMS, Livingston County EMS, HFMEMS and MFC). Plus years of planning and preparation resulted in an incredible training event where we gained knowledge & experience, built & strengthened relationships and came out better prepared.
Thank you to everyone who participated.

On Saturday, October 17th the Lima Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting a large-scale training exercise involving a school bus, at Mark Tubbs Park involving several Fire Departments, EMS agencies, The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office and HF-L School District personnel. This event is not open to the public for safety reasons.

Mark Tubbs Park will be closed to the public from 9am on Friday, October 16, until 5pm on Saturday, October 17th.
During the actual exercise on Saturday, October 17th (9AM - 2 PM) Ziegler Drive will be closed to anyone except local residents and vehicles associated with the exercise. Residents of Ziegler Drive will be able to proceed to and from their homes without restriction.

We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause and appreciate your patience and understanding as your local first responders train to serve the community for a variety of possible emergencies. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the Lima Volunteer Fire Department.

πŸš‘ Lima community β€” we would love to hear from you!

Lima EMS is looking for some community feedback about barriers to volunteering.

What do you see as the biggest barriers that keep people from volunteering with Lima EMS?

⏰ Time or scheduling
πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦ Family or work commitments
πŸ“š Training requirements
😬 Not knowing what to expect
πŸš‘ Feeling like you don’t have the right experience
Or something else entirely?

And most importantly, what could we do to help remove or reduce those barriers?

Please share your thoughts honestly and respectfully.

Understanding what prevents people from getting involved is the first step toward figuring out what we can do differently.

What would make volunteering with Lima EMS more accessible or realistic for you? πŸ‘‡

Yesterday was an incredible day at the Lima Pumpkin Festival and AG Day! πŸŽƒ πŸš‘

Our volunteers had a wonderful time connecting with the Lima community. Throughout the day, we had the opportunity to catch up with residents, visit with former patients, meet government officials, hang with the Lima volunteer fire dept and share information about the many ways Lima Fire and Ambulance serve our community.

Visitors stopped by to learn more about first aid, emergency preparedness and the services we provide. Thankfully, our only medical interventions during the festival involved band-aids and ice packs.

We had two tents in opposite ends of the festival which gave us opportunity to talk with individuals interested in volunteering, not only as EMTs and drivers, but also through the Lima Ambulance Foundation and other support roles that help keep our organization running strong and support our volunteers. It was great to show that there are many ways to make a difference without ever stepping into the back of an ambulance.

A special thank you to everyone who purchased raffle tickets and supported the Lima Ambulance Foundation. Your generosity helps us continue investing in equipment, programs, volunteer support, and community initiatives that benefit Lima residents.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, shared stories, asked questions, and helped make the day such a success. Events like Pumpkin Fest and AG Day remind us how fortunate we are to serve such a supportive community.

Shout out to Chris Held at Realitee Designs who once again worked his magic to make our comfortable and creative shirts.

Last but not least, thank you to everyone who worked hard to pull off this incredible event for our community. We look forward to seeing you all again next year!
