Hello everyone! I am sorry this information didn’t get out sooner, but there will be no Safety City Summer Academy for 2021. Not only because of the pandemic, however, that has made things difficult 😏 I am preparing for retirement and the pandemic has made it challenging to get another officer trained. An Officer has been chosen and I am sure he is going to do an amazing job. My replacement will be Ofc. Eric Mericle!!!! So when you see him congratulate him and tell him how much you are looking forward to Summer 2022!!! I hope everyone has a safe and happy summer! I will be around so if you see me out and about don’t hesitate to say hi! I love you all and I am grateful and honored that you allowed your precious children to hang out with me over the summer!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Ofc. Patty

As always please share this post so the information gets out to everyone. Thanks!

Happy Saturday! As you can see (by the pictures), we had an AMAZING class today!!! Ofc. Patricia Wogerman kicked things off by providing information, current updates and recommendations regarding how to conduct and protect ourselves during this corona virus situation. She answered questions, and then explained and demonstrated things we can do to keep ourselves, our families and our community safe during this time of uncertainty.

From there, she reviewed the information and techniques that were covered during session 1 (good vs bad touch, how to call 9-1-1, family password, family meeting place, defensive stance, loud voice, head butts and eye strikes).

She then shared information on the various types of bullying (physical, verbal, social and cyber), along with effective strategies that can be used to respond to bullying. She then moved us into today’s lesson (communication, cell phone safety and various hand, elbow and knee strikes).

Overall, today’s session was GREAT! We will continue to monitor the corona virus, and post updates regarding future class schedules.

THANKS Lima Police Department, Lima Noon Optimist Club, Ofc. Brittany, Ofc. Eric, Ofc. Rachel, Leiahnni and Mrs. Nanci. Each of you are AMAZING, and you add soooooo much value to this workshop! Your energy, efforts and continued support are much appreciated!!!

Thanks also to the parents and participants, for trusting us with your attendance, participation and safety. Again, we’ll keep you updated regarding next week’s workshop session.

What a great start! Thanks you ladies for being such a great class!!! See you next week!

Happy Saturday! We had an AMAZING kick-off to our Girl Power: Self-Defense and Empowerment Workshop!

Officer Patricia Wogerman did a FANTASTIC job sharing, explaining and coaching basic safety principles (how to call 9-1-1, the importance of a Family Password and the power of a raised voice), along with basic defensive techniques (body position/stance, basic blocking and striking). Our young ladies were attentive, asked great questions and responded appropriately.

We want to (again) thank the Lima Police Department and the Lima Noon Optimist Club, along with our volunteer assistants: Ofc. Rachel Scott, Ofc. Brittany Wyerick, Ofc. Eric Mericle, Mallory and Leiahnni.

3 sessions remaining, and should an emergency situation arise, we believe that all of OUR girls will be comfortable, confident and well able to respond (defend themselves).

In other news, our Adult class is FULL! Took less than 48 hours to fill each slot!!! This demonstrates the need and interest in this type of training. We encourage other organizations to consider partnering with law enforcement (and/or other agencies) to offer these classes, as the need is too great for any one organization to meet. We often hear that “this” could never happen to our family or in our community, until it does. Let’s empower our girls and women, so that they don’t become the next victim.

Remember: The things we do TODAY will affect how, where and if our ladies live TOMORROW!

Happy Thursday! We are EXCITED to announce that we’ve teamed up with The Lima Police Department and The Lima Noon Optimist Club to host the Girl Power: Self-Defense and Empowerment Workshop.

I look forward to seeing some new faces.
