Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Central Ohio

Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Central Ohio Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Central Ohio currently serves children in Allen, Hancock, Hardin, Paulding, Putnam, and Van Wert counties. You’re not alone!

Our programs are about spending time with a child in a one-to-one relationship. We support match relationships in two different settings:

School-based: Bigs and Littles meet once a week in schools, libraries and/or at lunch, to talk and have fun. It’s not about being a tutor…it’s about being a friend – someone they can rely on to see every week. Community-based: Bigs and Littles meet 2 to 4 times a month and the time spent together is flexible to fit your busy schedule. Matches can hang out in the community and go to parks, sports events, movies, and more. It’s up to you and your Little! When you’re part of something Big, you’re not alone. Each match is supported by professional Match Support Specialists who regularly check in with volunteers, children, and parents, and are always available to answer your questions. Throughout the year your agency sponsors activities that you and your Little can participate in.

💚 CELEBRATING THE POWER OF MENTORSHIP 💚

September is Big Brothers Big Sisters Month, a time to recognize the Bigs who show up, listen, encourage, and help young people see what is possible for their futures.

As Chris Jackson shares in this video, a caring, consistent mentor can make a meaningful difference in a young person’s life. Mentoring is about building trust, offering guidance, and reminding every young person that they have someone in their corner.

You can help us create more of these life-changing relationships by joining the 4 × 4 Challenge:

1️⃣ Give $4 every week in September
2️⃣ Become a monthly donor
3️⃣ Sign up to become a Big
4️⃣ Share the challenge with four people—and have all four return as either a donor or a Big

Complete any one of the four activities during September for an opportunity to win a $100 gift card!

💚 FOUR HOURS CAN MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE 💚

You don’t need special experience to become a mentor. You simply need to be willing to show up, listen, and be consistent.

A community-based Big spends approximately four hours per month with a young person. Bigs and Littles can visit a park, play a game, attend a community event, work on a project, share a meal, or simply talk.

Our team provides screening, training, match support, and guidance throughout the mentoring relationship.

Make becoming a Big your way of completing the 4 × 4 Challenge!
