The Institute of Museum and Library Services 250 Library Convening kicked off with two sessions today; one focused on optimizing library spaces and the other on crafting successful grant proposals for libraries. I've come away enriched with innovative ideas to enhance patron experience at our library.

As the Director of Limon Memorial Library, I was honored to receive a scholarship to attend the 2026 Public Library Association Conference. Over the past few days, I’ve experienced a variety of supportive, informative, and inspiring sessions that highlighted current issues and emerging trends in libraries.
Thank you to PLA for this incredible opportunity to grow professionally. I’m heading back to Colorado energized and full of new ideas for programs and tools to better serve our community!

Today I delved into the world of AI—a rapidly evolving and often controversial technology, much like many innovations were in their early days. As AI continues to shape how we create and consume information, learning to recognize AI-generated content and use these tools effectively will be essential, both now and in the near future. During the session "From Prompt to Productivity" information was shared on how to use AI to shorten library tasks, saving staff time and getting information to patrons more efficiently. My takeaway is that AI, like any tool it will be used for both good and bad. Think of a screwdriver used to assemble a desk, it will do the job, but a power drill will do the job more quickly and efficiently - if you know how to use it.
