A strong atmospheric river will bring continued heavy rain to the area today and tonight, before tapering off from north to south on Friday. This will result in widespread river flooding across northwest Oregon and southwest Washington today and tonight. Some rivers may continue to flood through at least Saturday. Heavy rain may also bring landslides as well as flooding of urban and low-lying areas, creeks, and streams. If you live in a flood-prone area, have a plan ready!

Another round of atmospheric storms are on the way at the end of the week. Be prepared. Free self-loading sandbags are available at the North Lincoln Fire & Rescue St. Claire station in Taft (next to Otis Cafe).

A potent atmospheric river event will cause periods of heavy rain Tuesday through Saturday. Rain falling onto already saturated soil will lead to significant runoff into already elevated rivers, leading to the potential for river flooding as well as flooding of urban areas and small streams into Thursday through Saturday. Now is the time to prepare! Visit www.weather.gov/safety/flood for more info.

This week the Oregon coast was slammed with an atmospheric storm dropping 6-8 inches of rain over three days and increased the lake level to 12.6 feet at its peak. High water on the roads near Blue Heron Landing and East Devils Lake Road created driving hazards as well as flooding around the lake. These storms impact everyone and you have a chance to help support the District's dredging project. Please submit your public comment and include photos to continue to build strong support from the community for this project. Public comment is open until December 18, 2025.
