Enhanced DUII Enforcement Planned For Labor Day Weekend

The Lincoln City Police Department will be utilizing grant funds to step up their enforcement efforts against drunk driving from August 19th through September 7th. This additional Labor Day period enforcement is being conducted in conjunction with national crackdown efforts that are designed to curb impaired driving, decrease crashes, reduce injuries, and save lives.

Many substances can impair driving. Alcohol, ma*****na, and other drugs can impair the ability to drive because they slow coordination, judgment, and reaction times. Co***ne and methamphetamine can make drivers more aggressive and reckless. Using two or more drugs at the same time, including alcohol, can amplify the impairing effects of each drug consumed. Some prescription and over-the-counter medicines can cause extreme drowsiness, dizziness, and other side effects. Read and follow all warning labels before driving, and note that warnings against “operating heavy machinery” include driving a vehicle. Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (DUII) continues to be a leading cause of motor vehicle crash injuries and deaths throughout the nation.

The members of the Lincoln City Police Department are committed to the safety of our citizens and visitors. Our goal is simple: to save lives and prevent injuries caused by DUII crashes. These grant funds were made possible through the Oregon Department of Transportation and Oregon Impact.

Does anyone recognize this sweet little lady? She was found wandering the area of SE 47th Street near SE Lee Avenue in the Taft district.

She isn't chipped, nor does she have a collar. If her owners aren't located tonight she will be lodged with the Lincoln County Animal Shelter in the morning

2026 LCPD Citizen’s Academy Cancellation

The Lincoln City Police Department Administration has made the difficult decision to cancel plans for this year’s annual Police Citizens’ Academy, possibly moving to a biennial program moving forward. The LCPD Citizens’ Academy has been an ongoing opportunity for members of the Community to learn more about law enforcement and the wider criminal justice system. We appreciate all who applied for the 2026 Citizens Academy. We look forward to more Community engagement opportunities in the coming months and continue to be thankful for the support shown to us by the our fellow citizens of Lincoln City. Natural Gas leak along Highway 101 disrupting traffic. All northbound and southbound traffic is blocked at the north 4300 block in Lincoln City(in the vicinity of the Lighthouse Square Shopping Center). Please use local surface roads as a detour.

ODOT and detour signage is in the works.

👮‍♂️ COMMUNITY UPDATE #2 : Organized Retail Theft Operation

On August 3rd, 2026, the McMinnville Police Department conducted a second Organized Retail Theft operation in the City of McMinnville. The operation focused law enforcement and local retailer loss prevention staff working together to identify and apprehend subjects involved in retail thefts. This operation was specifically coordinated to occur during this week as part of a nation-wide “blitz” law enforcement effort to combat organized retail theft that is occurring throughout the United States.

The participating retailers in this operation have experienced significant financial loss associated with merchandise theft and in many cases, known repeat theft offenders have been identified as being responsible.

The operation involved 10 retailers and resulted in a total of 13 arrests and 17 total charges. The resulting arrests included arrests for multiple counts of theft, and 4 arrestees were found to be in possession of controlled substances (including methamphetamine and fentanyl). One subject was cited and released for theft at one location and was rearrested for theft at another location less than two hours later. Two arrestees also had Fail to Appear warrants for theft offenses that occurred in other jurisdictions.

💰 A total of 142 stolen items were recovered from the arrestees and returned to retailers. The total value of items stolen was $939.99.

🤝 This operation would not have been made possible without the assistance and participation of law enforcement officers and staff from the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office, Grand Ronde Tribal Police, Tigard Police Department, Lincoln City Police Department, Yamhill Police Department, Newberg Dundee Police Department, Oregon Department of Justice and Yamhill County District Attorney’s Office.

CONCERNED CITIZEN’S REPORT LEADS TO ARRESTS AFTER EV CHARGING STATION THEFT

On July 31, 2026, around 1:00 AM, a concerned citizen witnessed subjects actively cutting Electric Vehicle chargers at the Lincoln City Outlet Mall and immediately notified LCPD. Officers surrounded the Outlet Mall and intercepted the suspects as they were leaving in a blue Honda Ridgeline. Both suspects were taken into custody without further incident. A search warrant was obtained and executed, leading to the recovery of over two dozen heavy-duty electric vehicle charging cables and a list of targets throughout Lincoln and Marion Counties.

The two suspects were lodged on the following charges into the Lincoln County Jail: Criminal Conspiracy, Theft 1st Degree, Criminal Mischief 1st Degree, Possession of Burglar Tools, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Possession of Fentanyl.

LCPD is aware of multiple traffic light outages in the area. When approaching Traffic Signals which are dark, such as due to a power outage, drivers should treat those traffic signals as stop signs. We encourage drivers to avoid unnecessary travel and to contact Pacific Power for further updates. They are aware and currently expect restoration of power in the next 9 hours.
