Our new brush rig is on its way home. This apparatus was funded through the voter-approved bond and will replace a 2004 brush rig that has become increasingly unreliable and costly to maintain.

This replacement helps ensure our crews have dependable equipment to respond to wildfires, medical emergencies, and other incidents throughout our community. The new rig is also designed to serve multiple response needs, allowing us to improve efficiency while reducing the overall size of our fleet.

We appreciate the communityโ€™s continued support and investment in keeping reliable emergency resources available when they are needed most.

As the demand for emergency services continues to grow, voters within the North Lincoln Fire & Rescue District are being asked to consider a renewal of the Districtโ€™s local option levy in the May election: Measure 21-236. This measure renews the current local option levy with no increase and would maintain the current rate of $1.22 per $1,000 of assessed property value. There would be no increase in the current tax rate collected.

North Lincoln Fire & Rescue has operated with a local option operating levy since 2017. Under Oregon law, local option levies must be approved by voters and may be authorized for no more than five years at a time to continue funding.

This operating levy plays an important role in maintaining the level of emergency services our community relies on every day. ๐—œ๐—ณ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—น๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ๐˜† ๐—ฝ๐—ฎ๐˜€๐˜€๐—ฒ๐˜€, it will continue to fund 21 firefighter positions, support volunteer firefighter programs, provide and replace required protective equipment, and maintain the general operations necessary to respond to emergencies across the District.

Demand for emergency services has increased significantly over the past decade. In 2025, North Lincoln Fire & Rescue responded to ๐Ÿฏ,๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿด๐Ÿฒ ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น๐˜€ ๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐˜€๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜ƒ๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ฒ, the highest number in District history โ€” a ๐Ÿฒ๐Ÿฒ. Despite this growth, the District has worked to reduce response times and improve service delivery to better meet community needs. We have been able to do this while being fiscally responsible with the tax dollars provided.

โ€œOur responsibility is to provide fast, reliable emergency response and protect the safety of our community every day,โ€ said Fire Chief Rob Dahlman. โ€œThis levy will maintain the staffing, training, and equipment needed to continue delivering the level of service our residents and visitors expect.โ€

Continuing on with our heritage week we would like to recognize the crews from 1975. Individuals who pride themselves on taking care of the community they live in, responding at a momentโ€™s notice, and dedicating time to train on skills, making sure those calls are performed as planned and keeping all involved as safe as possible. These volunteers sacrificed their time for someone in need that may have been a family member, friend, neighbor, or someone not even from around the area. It never mattered who or why, but rather the life, health, and safety of those that needed it. Give thanks to a name you may recognize on these lists as well as their families, because it wasnโ€™t just the sacrifice of the member, but to the family as well. We, as a department are proud of all of our volunteers, past, present, and future, and would like to say, thank you for all you put in to perform in all forms of duty, as a pinnacle of this great community.

In 2025, North Lincoln Fire & Rescue experienced a historic year, responding to 3,586 calls for service, the highest call volume in the agencyโ€™s history. Just ten years ago, crews responded to 2,154 calls, representing a 66.5% increase in emergency responses over the past decade.

Our firefighters and emergency responders are called upon every day to assist residents and visitors during some of their most challenging moments. These incidents include medical emergencies, motor vehicle crashes, fires, hikers in distress, and water rescues throughout our communities and along the coastline. We also assist in those not so emergency situations like checking your smoke alarm or changing the batteries, inspecting your property for fire hazards, or helping with a โ€œLift Assistโ€.

As call volumes continue to grow, our mission remains unchanged: providing professional, timely, and compassionate service whenever help is needed. The rising number of responses reflects both the growth of our area and the increasing demand for emergency services, while also demonstrating the trust our community places in its Fire District.

We are proud to serve our community and remain committed to training, preparedness, and prevention efforts that help keep residents and visitors safe every day.

Jeff Rondina, growing up on the East Coast, moved to Lincoln City with his Wife, Grace, in 2020. The two of them planted roots in the community quickly. Jeff, continuing his passion for surfing here on the Oregon Coast, has now spent more than 10 years chasing waves. This decade of ocean experience has created a vast knowledge and understanding of the water and an unmatched hunger for being in it as much as possible. Jeff volunteered to be a part of the NLFR Water Rescue Team in 2024 and has been an integral part of the teamโ€™s leadership and training programs. Leading a weekly pool workout and helping instruct on every drill night, this team has made incredible advancements because of his dedication. Jeff has participated in many rescue operations over the last two years and continues to pursue certifications like Surface, Swift, and Surf rescue, rope rescue, and NFPA instructor qualifications.

You'd be hard-pressed to find a more dedicated, driven, and caring volunteer like Jeff Rondina. Our community benefits greatly because of his focus and diligence to help increase the capabilities of this team and every member on it. NLFR's Water Rescue team would not be where it is today without his constant pursuit of excellence as a teammate and as a leader.

When Jeff is not volunteering or working, you will most likely find him searching for surf, building and repairing surfboards, or traveling to beautiful destinations with his wife, Grace. Jeff works for the City of Lincoln City in the planning department and is deeply involved in this community.

Our community, tourists, and beach goers from near and far are safer as a direct result of Jeff's unwavering dedication to the team!

A note from Grace (Jeffโ€™s wife)
Jeff Rondina joined North Lincoln Fire's Water Rescue team in 2023. He has loved the ocean since he was a child, growing up on the East Coast and sailing with his father. Jeff is always up for a challenge, whether in his career or hobbies. He has competed in numerous endurance races, was a wildland firefighter, and worked 10 years as an ironworker in New York City. While on the East Coast, he started surfing; he will now take any opportunity he can to be out on the water. Jeff moved to the Oregon coast in 2020, embracing small-town life and looking for ways to support his community. He currently works for the City of Lincoln City Public Works department. Joining the Lincoln City Water Rescue team has given Jeff the opportunity to combine his love of the ocean with his compassion for others

This year, we would like to highlight a former volunteer named Josh Roberts, who just recently stepped away from the department after starting in 2019. Josh will be stepping away from the community he loved to serve. Below is a bio written by Josh's wife, Tiffany.

Joshua James Roberts, 39, served his community with unwavering dedication as a volunteer firefighter with the North Lincoln Fire Department, including four years as an EMT. In 2024, he was honored as Firefighter of the Yearโ€”an award that reflects not only his skill, but the deep respect he earns from those who serve alongside him.

Joshua is, in every sense of the word, a hero. Known for his calm presence and natural ability to de-escalate even the most difficult situations, he has a way of making people feel safe simply by being there. In addition to his fire service, he works in security and has also assisted in supporting families and individuals during some of lifeโ€™s most difficult moments, always treating everyone with dignity, compassion, and respect.

Fire service is more than a duty to Joshuaโ€”it is his passion. He lives for it, dedicating his time and heart to protecting and serving his community. His steadfast commitment and quiet strength leave a lasting impact on everyone who has the privilege of knowing him.

Above all, Joshua is a devoted father to Emma, Jaxon, Theodore, and Vance. He leads with love, pride, and unwavering support, and his family is at the center of everything he does.

Joshua James Roberts is defined by his honor, his service, and the care he shows to others. His dedication and compassion continue to make a meaningful difference in his community.

As Joshua begins the next chapter of his life, he returns to his rootsโ€”his birthplace and the community where his father once grew upโ€”to pursue a new path in a hospital setting. With the same compassion, strength, and dedication that defined his fire service, he continues his commitment to caring for others. This new journey reflects not an end, but a continuation of the service-driven life he has always led, bringing his steady presence and heart for people into every space he enters.
