“Leadership isn’t just one person. It takes a community to make a difference.”

That’s one of the lessons 2026 Nebraska Kid Governor Cabinet member Kenzlie Reed has learned through her experience in the program.

Now, we’re looking for Nebraska’s next class of fifth-grade civic leaders!

Registration is open for the 2027 Nebraska Kid Governor program. Teachers can register their classes to give students a firsthand experience with democracy while building leadership skills, exploring civic engagement and learning how they can make a difference in their communities.

Ready to get your class involved? Register for the 2027 Nebraska Kid Governor program today at https://ne.kidgovernor.org/register

Climate action does not have to begin with politics. It can begin with faith, values, and care for our shared home. 🌱

🐝 Meet Amanda Irions, a member of Civic Nebraska’s Apiary cohort. Amanda is creating Sustaining Sustainability, a Lancaster County organization that will connect religious leaders from many different faiths with climate resources grounded in their religious and moral principles.

Her project centers on the idea of “creation care,” an invitation to consider how we can better care for the natural world, preserve our environment, and prepare our communities for the growing effects of climate change in Nebraska.

Amanda’s long-term vision is to build relationships with faith leaders throughout Lancaster County and create new opportunities for thoughtful, values-driven climate conversations.
