What are Horizon Charter School and Partnerships for Student-Centered Learning? Horizon Charter School (HCS), a public charter school authorized by the California State Board of Education, is a personalized learning independent study program serving students from kindergarten through 12th grade. HCS has been in operation since 1993 when it was authorized as the 15th charter school in California. W

e are a public school chartered through Western Placer Unified School District. HCS provides high quality educational choices to more than 1,500 students in El Dorado, Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, Sutter, and Yuba counties. Partnerships for Student-Centered Learning (PaSCL) is our newest Charter School. PaSCL was approved for operation by the California State Board of Education on July 18, 2010. PaSCL is also authorized by Western Placer Unified School District and operated by Horizon Charter Schools. PaSCL serves approximately 1,300 students in the same counties as HCS.

Calling all HCS High Schoolers! Looking to be part of a great internship team? Looking to gain real world experience in social media marketing? Better yet, looking for that special “get” on your college applications? Then look no further! Apply for our social media internship! This unique class offers you the opportunity to gain behind the scenes knowledge of how to publicize and engage in social media campaigns. In this internship you will:
Create weekly posts for ongoing and future events
Write one to two articles per month for our Newsletter
Work with a team of personable energetic students and staff
Meet one per week with your fellow interns and coordinator
Receive credit and real world experience!

The Horizon Charter Schools Governing Board is seeking to fill an upcoming vacancy as a Business or Community Representative for the next school year. This position is for a two-year term, beginning July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2028.

To be eligible, you must live in Placer County and not be a parent of a Horizon Charter Schools student.
