🎉 Happy four-year work anniversary to Leanne, our Director of Housing and Outreach!

For the past four years, Leanne has been an important part of the Matt Talbot team. We’re grateful for the hope, compassion, and joy she brings to our dining room and to the guests we serve.

To celebrate her anniversary, we asked Leanne a few questions about her time at Matt Talbot and a little bit about herself!

💭 What is your favorite Matt Talbot memory?
“It’s not necessarily one specific memory, but I love the laughter in our dining room and the smiles from our guests. The daily “good mornings” and “have a good nights”. Those are the moments I’ll hold onto forever because they show that, even during a stormy season, we were able to bring a little light.”

🧡 What's a fun fact about yourself you'd like to share?
“I love sunsets because they are a daily reminder that there is beauty in change.”

We’re so thankful for Leanne and the light she brings to Matt Talbot each day. 🌞

🎉 Happy three-year work anniversary to Alynn, our Executive Director!

For the past three years, Alynn has led Matt Talbot with dedication, compassion, and a deep commitment to our mission. Her leadership continues to help guide our team and strengthen the impact we have in our community.

To celebrate three years with Matt Talbot, we asked Alynn a couple of questions!

💭 What is your favorite Matt Talbot memory?
"It's so hard to choose just one favorite! One story that rises to the top for me is from when we opened our alternative shelter. We had a guest who had been sleeping outside for quite some time, including on our property, and he finally had the opportunity to come into the house. The first night, he slept on top of the bed. He didn’t remove the comforter or the sheets because he didn’t know he could. And he slept for a solid 16 hours. I remember letting him sleep and thinking about what that must have felt like for him—to finally be safe and warm, sleeping in a bed indoors instead of on concrete outside. It was such a simple thing, but it meant so much. Today, he is employed, sober, and just an absolute joy to be around. I’m so grateful that we took a risk and opened that house, because his story is a reminder that sometimes people just need a safe place, a little time, and someone willing to take a chance on them."

🧡 What's a fun fact about yourself you'd like to share?
"After I leave Matt Talbot each day, I get in my car and morph into a personal chauffeur, chef, event coordinator, travel agent, and personal assistant to a 17 and 11 year old. Unfortunately I'm still waiting on those paychecks to roll in from those gigs but I'm told it will be worth it if I keep doing it. "

Retirees. Alums. LEGENDS.
Some things never change. ❤️

We loved welcoming five former Matt Talbot employees back to the kitchen today! The same compassion, joy, and determination they brought to their work here were on full display as they served nearly 200 meals for lunch.

We’re pretty lucky they’re still willing to pitch in! 🧡

☔👢 Rain boots: on. Fresh Choice Pantry: open.

A little summer downpour wasn’t going to stop Victoria and her volunteers from making sure our neighbors had access to the food they need!

This afternoon, pantry visitors were able to shop at no cost for a variety of items, including meat, produce, dairy, canned goods and boxed foods.

Grateful to be here - rain or shine!

Happy work anniversary to Heather! 🎉

One year ago today, Heather re-joined the CARE team—and we’re so glad to have her back! With 6.3 total years of service to Matt Talbot, Heather has been part of so many meaningful moments in the lives of our guests and team.

Her favorite Matt Talbot memory? Walking back through the front doors after two years away and being welcomed by staff and guests. Even more special was listening as guests shared with excitement how their lives had changed during those two years. ❤️

And a fun fact about Heather: She learned how to plant and grow grass a few years ago, and now one of her favorite things to do is… mow! 🌱

Thank you, Heather, for the care, compassion and dedication you bring to Matt Talbot. We’re so happy you’re here!
