Paratransit Application Process Update

StarTran will update its paratransit eligibility process beginning June 1. The update includes a new online submission option and a transfer of program administration from the League of Human Dignity to FBA Nebraska.

FBA Nebraska and StarTran team members will be available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., by phone or email. In-person meetings are available if a functional assessment is needed.
Current riders do not need to take action until their next renewal. FBA Nebraska will contact them at that time and provide guidance. New applicants will use the updated process once it takes effect.

For more information, visit lincoln.ne.gov/Paratransit or contact StarTran at 402-441-7185 or [email protected].

This door-to-door transportation service was created to help meet the transportation needs of individuals who experience disability and who, because of that disability, are unable to ride the regular fixed-routed city bus. The program requires pre-registration.

Exciting news for Lincoln! We are incredibly proud to be part of the new Age-Friendly Community Action Plan. This initiative is all about enhancing independence, supporting "Aging in Place," and making sure our community thrives at every stage of life. Take a look at the key focal points for communication, housing and transportation below! 👇

Thrilled to announce Lincoln’s new Age-Friendly Community Action Plan!

Age-friendly communities enhance personal independence, help community members to remain in their homes as they age, and provide opportunities for residents of all ages, ability levels, and backgrounds to engage fully in civic, economic, and social life.

Through extensive public engagement efforts, we identified three focal points and associated strategies for our age-friendly efforts going forward:

💻 Communication and Information – We will expand our offerings of digital literacy workshops, increase services in the City’s Aging and Disability Resource Center, and enhance awareness of local services and benefits.

🏠 Housing – We will work to make housing more age-friendly in its design and support “Aging in Place."

🚌 Transportation – We will host “How to Ride” education events, distribute free bus passes for seniors, and mapp existing transportation resources in Lincoln.

Thank you to Aging Partners/ADRCNebraska, community members, and partner organizations who helped shape this important plan for Lincoln’s future.
