After more than three decades of dedicated military service, the 155th Air Refueling Wing proudly honored Col. Wade Mueller during his retirement ceremony May 2, 2026, at Nebraska National Guard air base in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Mueller began his Air Force career in 1992 and continued his legacy of leadership when he joined the Nebraska Air National Guard in 2018. During his time with the 155th ARW, he served as Deputy Commander, helping lead the wing through continued mission success while mentoring the next generation of Airmen.

Reflecting on a career spanning 23 years of active duty service and eight years with the Nebraska Air National Guard, Mueller thanked family, friends, and fellow Airmen who supported him throughout his journey.

During the ceremony, 155th ARW Commander Col. Christopher Hesse presented Mueller with the Legion of Merit, recognizing his exceptional leadership and lasting impact on the wing and its mission.

Thank you, Col. Mueller, for your unwavering service, leadership, and commitment to the Airmen of the 155th ARW and the nation. Wishing you and your family the very best in retirement! 🇺🇸✈️

Good food, great stories, and even better company.

On April 15, 2026, the Chiefs Council brought together our incredible retirees at Lincoln air base, Nebraska, for the annual Retiree Breakfast, reconnecting old friends, sharing laughs, and celebrating the legacy they built.

We also gave them a look at what’s happening now at the 155th Air Refueling Wing, and let’s just say, the mission is still flying strong thanks to them. ✈️

More than 450 students stepped inside the mission during the Nebraska Air National Guard’s Open Hangar event!

With 45 Air Force career fields on display, students experienced hands-on demonstrations ranging from EOD operations to virtual reality aircraft maintenance simulations. The event gave students an inside look at the real-world tasks our Airmen perform every day and the wide range of opportunities available in the Air National Guard.

Thank you to all the students, educators, and Airmen who helped make the day a success and inspired the next generation of service members.

Airmen from the 155th Air Refueling Wing, alongside Soldiers from the Nebraska National Guard, supported wildfire suppression operations as part of ongoing response efforts to the historic Cottonwood and Morrill County wildfires, which have burned nearly 800,000 acres across central and western Nebraska.

As part of a Joint Emergency Response Crew, Guardsmen conducted mop-up operations, extinguishing residual hot spots to reduce the risk of rekindle and support sustained containment. As of March 24, both fires are 98% contained.

The 155th is proud to support our communities alongside our Nebraska National Guard partners.

Did someone say “brrrrrrrrrr”… or did you mean “brrrrrrrrt”? 😏✈️

An A-10 Thunderbolt II from the 442d Fighter Wing links up with one of our KC-135 Stratotankers for in-flight refueling, extending range, endurance, and combat power.

These eye-catching shots were captured by Tech. Sgt. Sean Pozehl, Combat Training and Arms Maintenance, while he and fellow Security Forces Airmen conducted Fly Away Security Team (FAST) training aboard the aircraft, protecting the mission and staying ready anytime, anywhere.

Huge thanks to TSgt Pozehl for capturing the action.
