Huge thanks to Town Pump for a grant to purchase a drone with camera and thermal imaging. We will be able to use it for search and rescue and find hot spots from lightning or smoke reports. Huge asset for the Upper Blackfoot.

Come on down and see what we do. Meet your firefighters. Barring fires we should have DNRC and USFS fire crews as well. Fun for the kids. We will cut up a car, spray some water and let the kids play around with some of the tools we use. Come have a burger.

Yes, its wet and muddy out, but burning will close midnight tonight. Its been this way for years and its for good reason. Its the busy summer season and with that comes an increase in folks recreating and traveling. Resources get spread thin quickly. We dont just respond to wildland fires. Motor vehicle wrecks increase drastically with the roads being so congested. And it doesn't take long for all this moisture to go away with a few sunny and windy days. 2017 we went from filling sand bags and flooding like crazy to the whole north side of the valley being on fire in a matter of a few weeks. It can change quickly. And even with the rain, heavier fuels are still dry due to low snowpack the past 2 winters.

Wind is gonna pick up today and gonna get warm. May not be the best days to burn debris. Give it a few days. Please keep an eye on any burns from prior days that may reignite with the wind. And also a reminder that debris burning will close July 1st for the rest of summer.

Gonna be windy and hot so please think about these things if your gonna start a burn pile. May be best to wait till The winds die down.

Elevated to critical fire weather conditions develop this afternoon amid hot, dry, and breezy to windy conditions. There will also be gusty showers and thunderstorms that race northeastward in the afternoon and evening. Be sure to avoid actions that may cause sparks and be ready to take shelter from storms if outdoors.

Usfs will be continuing their burn up Stemple today. It will very visible.

USFS will be doing another controlled burn up stemple to get rid of some heavy fuel loading. It will put up a lot of heavy smoke but conditions are good for it and its very needed.

There is a USFS controlled burn in the Hogum Creek area. Its very visible from Lincoln and Helena, and will be for several days. There are signs along hwy 200 and right at Hogum. Its on Watch Duty. Please do not call 911. Its well in the boundaries of the prescriptive burn and there are firefighters in the area.
