Rest in peace Andy

It is with deep sadness and regret that we announce the passing of Lieutenant Arthur Anderson III (Andy). After a hard fought battle with cancer for over a year, today the battle was unfortunately lost.

Andy never had any thoughts of becoming a firefighter and had retired from Caterpillar. His nephew Ryan was a member of the department and one day while visiting him, saw the turnout for a call and was truly impressed and intrigued. Andy joined the roster in September of 2009 as a volunteer and was completely hooked. Within a little over a years time he had earned his Firefighter II certification as well as his EMT license. After this he began working part time for the district, filling in on shift when a full time member was off. At this point Andy was fully enthralled with his new position and truly embodied dedication to the district. In 2011 and 2014 he earned the districts highest award, the Everett Kennett Award as well as Part Time Firefighter of the year in 2015. Due to his amazing gift of gab and ability to listen and relay others concerns, Andy was nominated and approved to the rank of Lieutenant, to speak on behalf of the volunteer roster. Andy was one of those rare individuals that could relate and talk to anyone, and was beloved by all members. Even through the rough times of this last year, he still would take time to stop in and catch up and see how things were going. There are many descriptions and nick names that can describe Andy, dedication, advocate, humble, confidant, comedian, passionate, and friend to name a few. We will all miss him dearly. Rest easy our brother, you have earned it, we have it from here.
